This thread seems a little *too* easy.

2 gigs of ram? Honestly i don't know why people keep saying this. I run a mix of medium and high settings with AA running with 512mb ram. 2 gigs just seems over the top...

^Really, cuz I have 512 mb and I can only run most low one or two medium and it lags like a *****.

Vista alone eats 600mb of idle ram. And that's if you're doing absolutely nothing.

If you have 512mb of ram and you have Vista while playing BF2, expect map load times to be at least 10 minutes and gameplay to be at least 20fps to say the least.

The amount of ram does not influence your fps even though it may appear too as thing will load faster to begin with and I was under the impression that Vista frees up the memory when you start a game or an application that requires more ram. That said Vista really does hog ram and performance is sup-par at the moment.

Like always I'll paste my previous post every time someone asks this question:
Installation of Project Reality follows in these short steps:

1. Install Battlefield 2
2. Install Battlefield 2 1.41 Patch
3. Install Project Reality 0.5 (or latest version when it arrives)

Now hers how to Install and Run the game under Vista:

First install Battlefield 2, then install BF2 Patch v1.41, then install PR V0.5.
After the installation is over, right click on the BF2 or PR icon and go to properties/compatibility and chose under "Compatibility mode" "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". You also need to check mark "Run this Program as an administrator".
And yes you will feel quite a performance drop if you had played this game on Windows XP prior to Windows Vista. I got 2GB of RAM and I can sure as hell tell you my gaming performance dropped after switching to Vista.

Which is why I'm not switching to Vista any time soon. I run with 1 gig with no unnecessary overhead running in the background and settings mostly on high and a couple at medium...great game play and very little lag except on the very largest maps and that goes away after awhile.

It’s a new operating system, and I had to format my computer, so I decided to install Vista instead. Vista looks good, makes some stuff easier, it’s designed in a way that even a retard will be able to visually use Windows(and buy it ;) ).

every 3rd map change (6 rounds), I got CTD ...anyone else have the same symptoms?
OS = Vista Ultimate RAM = 2GB VRAM = 512MB

if not, I'll crash the computer and afterward I'm gonna ask for assault kit at local millitary shop and I'm on my way to Seattle to visit some old software house

As far as vBF2 runs without problems in Vista, you shouldnt have any problems with PR. Good luck.

@bigbossmat: I have no reason to switch to Win Vista. There're a lot of things that go on 'under the hood' that I dont like. In summary, my PC should be mine alone...not Microsoft's.

Same problems here especially after fewer Vista patches installed.
I have 2 GB of RAM, nvidia 8800GTS, S4 Vista ready MB hardware practically invented for Vista my Vista score is 5.9 in everything and still nothing.

0.6 works better but 0.5 not. On some servers I have major lag but with XP not. Problems with PB updates. CTD on almost every map changes on server.
„Windows Vista“ should be called „Winblows Shitsta“
