Field Ambulance/Medevac
I just thought, how about having a field ambulance/air ambulance where soldiers go into it to be treated, and can be taken away safely out of the firing line. It can be used very well for teamwork. You are not allowed to shoot them, if you do you lose points, even if it is enemy.

check this outNice idea. Wouldnt mind seeing medevac APCs/Transport Helos that heal people in passenger positions (Represent having a medic/corpsman in the vehicle). Require a new skin at the most.

are you kinda talking about like what BF1942
C had? where there was like the medevac helo with the extra gas tanks on the fins?
would be a nice idea, you hop in it and get healed up, or a quick transport. Still is easy to take out, so wouldnt be totally overpowering. Just wouldnt have miniguns on the side.

The medevac helo in DC was a Blackhawk with ESSS, the support pylons for carrying all sorts of **** like FFARs or fuel tanks. Nothing says a medevac chopper can't have guns, though it is understandable that you wouldn't want them on it if it's not supposed to be fired upon.
On the other hand, any Blackhawk with a medic in the back is a medevac chopper.

We talked about this to death in a previous thread - with very mixed opinions as well. Some loved it, some (like me) didn't like it as much. I don't think it's necessary with the medics current role and abilities.

How would it be 'VERY helpful' - we've got a medic who can resurrect already. If your so eager to get the injured person off the front line quickly, get in a hummer and drive away.'[R-PUB wrote:A-10WarthogPilot']so what, this stuff NEEDS to be ingame... it would bery VERY helpful and all we would need to do is model the support humvee a bit
If you argue that the medevac vehicle is a 'safe zone' though - that would ruin game play totally. "Yay! Let's use a medevac screen so no one can shoot us!"

And code the "no hitting the ambulance", who must be inside for it to work successfully, where and how can we restrict the ambulance to going? Etcetera.'[R-PUB wrote:A-10WarthogPilot']so what, this stuff NEEDS to be ingame... it would bery VERY helpful and all we would need to do is model the support humvee a bit

make it so ONLY it can be healable when your in the back of it (so max 4 people) and only medic driveable or somethingworkingrobbie wrote:How would it be 'VERY helpful' - we've got a medic who can resurrect already. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/communit ... 7072.storyUnder the Geneva Conventions, the medevac crews can carry only rifles and handguns for their own protection -- not the kind of powerful machine guns that typically sit in the two open windows on either side of a Black Hawk.

Medical personnel isn't supposed to employ firearms in offensive roles either, and if they do, they get treated like normal combatants. I guess the same would apply to medevac vehicles.DarkTalon wrote:the geneva convention does...
The question is, do you want a Basra civilian style medevac, or just another chopper... I'm not sure if there exactly is a place for a vehicle you can't fire upon in PR, considering how the game works. One moment, you could be fighting 5 guys, and the next moment they're in a medevac chopper and you can't shoot them (after which they land behind your lines and proceed to attack from behind).

Why do people keep arguing that any vehicle with a Medic in it makes it a Medical Unit? This isn't Vanilla and just because you're sitting in the same vehicle as a Corpsman doesn't mean you're getting the health. A Medical Vehicle should heal you just from sitting in it, not from getting out, having a Medic come to you, and mess around with the new (And slightly silly) system of dive-hump-click-hump-heal (Needs moar range[2 Meters, come on, right now you have to be INSIDE the person to heal them]!!!)
Making the medical vehicle an object that can't be shot would lead to so many exploitations of it. Either making it a One seater that heals around it (Like the old Supply Hummer from 0.4(?)), two seats that heals around it and has a quick healing second seat, or give it as many seats as you can and make it a legal to shoot it.
But, going on this idea of Medi-Evac, does anyone else think the Medic class should get the Squad Leader's Signal Grenades? It'd be useful for squads that lost their SL, or got to a combat area without an Officer, for what ever reason, plus give Medics a way to call in and mark a landing zone for Medical Assistance. And just makes them look more modified for PR since they get the least amount of equipment and are bare and unmodified thus far.

If you're a medic, and you sit in the back of the vehicle, everyone inside will get healed. It makes sense, too - if you were in the back of an APC, and there was someone bleeding badly sitting next to you, you'd probably try to do something about it, as awkward as it'd be in the cramped compartment.
