they're trying it on the test server, but too many smacktards to have any fun i think we should set up a private test server.

Oh no, I uninstalled 6.04 to install 6.05 and now I can't join in the fun.

I also can't find 6.04 anywhere.

Please do! The civilians are awesome to have but it gets damn frustrating when you have a civilian giving you a lead on the ammo caches and then JoeJack comes out of nowhere and knifes the guy. I only knife civilians if they throw rocks at me :)

I was on earlier and the checkpoint RP totally killed gameplay. It's an FPS not an RPG... if you want to do roleplay, act like a squad member. Leave that indepth stuff for Vanguard and furry chatrooms.

BF2 chat system just isn't sufficient for proper RP. It would need some kind of local chat in which only players near enough could communicate with each others and messages showing above your charachter. Currently it's impossible to find out who is the one speaking in chat.

There was some funny moments on RP server, like letting techinical drivers through as civilians - despite of those MGs on top.

I wouldn't of allowed such a travesty to happen in such a noble aircraft!
If I ever catch the captain of that Merlin that allowed this to happen, I'll give him a few stern words!

Or possibly not...

ermmmm....*cough*

my whole plan was to get them in nd then open the hatch and fly at full speed, resulting in them flying out the back.

its called the civilian cluster bomb

I think if you are going to do this, it should defiantly be on a passworded server, that's the only real way to keep out smack tards. sounds interesting will give it a try.

someone care to explain the "rules" a little bit more?

rules are simply what they would be in real life. initially if a civilian comes in un armed to a vcp and turns himself in to give you information, the whole idea is not to kill him as he has information to your end goal, thus prompting people not to kill him. It is up to the vcp occupying force to either trust the civvy or not, as the civvy may be lying and may lead you into an ambush. also the fact that there are no name tags for enemies the same civvy who cheated on you before could cheat on you again, so you must remember and take note of each informant.

rules are basically then dont be a complete d*ck and knife every civvy you see, as they may give you information. however the input of attack markers at the general position of the ammo caches make this intel probing less needed, which is a shame.

Had some fun with a squad tonight in the RP server doing downed-pilot scenarios. It was strange - the RP actually seemed to make us a better squad overall, and by better I mean more synchronized and talented in combat even.

Image

We took out three APCs in the space of about one minute with synchronized RPG fire, it was truly awesome. Here's a picture of one of the downed pilots prior to his execution, and our party being interrupted by an IFV:

It was quite fun after that, we ended up with another Pilot as a prisoner and were hiding him from an assault on the village. I'm sure if it'd gone on much longer, we'd have been escorting the prisoner to various places to avoid his being rescued by the British.

Would be great if someone would sponsor a Roleplay TS or vent server.

They had that in JO ;) , press T and everyone in the 100-200 m radious could see what you typed. JO also had vehicle chat, so you could chat to the guys in the vehicle, you were in...

We should ahve a small passworded server for roleplaying and with BFR on, some interesting scenarios could be made and movies release *cough* where is the PF Movie Server *cough**cough* ;) ?
