We took out three APCs in the space of about one minute with synchronized RPG fire, it was truly awesome. Here's a picture of one of the downed pilots prior to his execution, and our party being interrupted by an IFV:
It was quite fun after that, we ended up with another Pilot as a prisoner and were hiding him from an assault on the village. I'm sure if it'd gone on much longer, we'd have been escorting the prisoner to various places to avoid his being rescued by the British.

haha while I agree with you, the fantastic part about this is the opportunity it presents us as game designers to see if we can't capitalise on things players have come up with in ways the enhance rather than detract from the game play experience.Expendable Grunt wrote:I was on earlier and the checkpoint RP totally killed gameplay. It's an FPS not an RPG... if you want to do roleplay, act like a squad member. Leave that indepth stuff for Vanguard and furry chatrooms.
I'd like to see a white flag and if you kill a civy waving it, you get -100 team score (probably will get you PB kicked from most servers for 1 minute).
But the Insurgents could shoot that Civvy and get some sort of bonus for it, so they have to be sly about it.
Or the Civvy get some smoke markers they can toss to reveal locations of ammo dumps.
We could also potentially use up the other 3 base class slots for some different looking Civilians, mostly just to add visial variety. But we could have 2 that looked similar, but one of them was a suicide bomber.
There's obviously limits on what we can do, but I love the creativity players have applied to this and over time we'll see what we devs can come up with to match that creativity with some cool in game ideas that make things more realistic in terms of an insurgency dynamic.
Lots of people told us that a class armed with a rock was about the dumbest thing we could add to the mod and would cause nothing but trouble. I love the dynamic they bring and am looking forward to expanding on it.

I was thinking about suggesting that as a class, the suicide bomber. They'd get a Knife, a Detonator, and a Smoke Grenade. Knife for when they encounter only one person, making this Jihad not very good, and the Smoke Grenade to cover them selves for either a retreat or attack. The Detonator is self explanatory.'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']

And since it will be Civilian-esque, also have rocks so they don't stand out that much.
But if you wanted to add the class to the game, think of what you could do with LOD? IF you can define the distances, then having a small part of their skin be a tell tale sing (IE: Red wire sticking out of their shirt or something) that'd only appear at close range, before they explode and kill you.
I always wanted to role play, heck, I joke around a bit trying to get the Cache information in exchange for money, drugs, and/or hookers, but no one ever takes the bait...
Hope it's running now, I just might pop in and chat it up with some Green Shirts.

Well im sick of roleplaying, all the people saying "Oh I want to help the brits" led some idiot to knifing me ( He was insurgent ) as I was civilian with binos out, trying to show him where a brit was I said "SQ1 LEAD DUE WEST ON ROOF" in teamchat and then he knifed me.
Later on I see someone knifing a civi who is running around NVCP like a jackass, then he gets teamkilled because he wasn't "Checkpoint Roleplaying"
Then I fire a warning shot at civ, then a guy named "WTFBBQ" with his clan tag, dear god, decides I was intenionally trying to kill the civ, which I was not, and goes to TKing me rather than speaking in text.
I AM BY FAR SICK OF @!$#ing roleplaying, I wan't to search for DAMN CACHES not playing a DAMNED ROLEPLAY game in a public server.
It was insurgency gamemode on all of the events above, ... apparently they don't want to play the game.
On the other hand I really do like insurgency game mode, I just hate the damn TKing jackasses who won't let us get the intel to win the game.
Oh and on another note, I killed the ******* who TKed after, as a medic revived him, and yes it was justified

Was I that civilian you shot doom? About 20 minutes ago? It started off well, until they tried to get me into a merlin and then take off. (and not realizing that I'd go splat the second they tried to take off...) I tried to say "let me get in my car and I'll lead you there" but noooo, they wanted to use the merlin. Oh well. From that point on I couldn't get the brits to cooperate, they were killing every civvie in sight.
Anybody know of the name of the server that actually has a repeating server messege saying basically the servers RP rules for al basrah? That's always nice, since it lets other people know what's up.
In either case, I like rp sometimes, other times it just slows down the game.

Sure, there are jacked up times, such as when (the other night) a bunch of civvies kept using their grapples on the street signs to tantalize the British outside of NVCP in a very unrealistic manner. Still, it was quite a think to watch. They must have been having fun, but they really weren't doing much. I was surprised they weren't bored... in a way, it reminded me of a less harmful and irritating bunch of mygots.
The above situation really needs a nonlethal option. I think there should be pepperball guns in this mod for the civvies, to crush their ability to accurately throw rocks by giving them blurry vision.

Pepper spray/paintball gun is a great idea.
The teargas gun would work quite well until that new fangled tech can be arranged.
Nothing like gassing some hippies throwing rocks to brighten your day !!!

All i can say about not liking the CHeckpoint RP, is to not be there.
Its the admi descision if it is or isnt, much like the quick spawn servers, which does heavily alter the gameplay. But, we decide not to playh on them. You dont HAVE to be there guys

Then I can relive the early days of Al basrah, gassing the baserapers.
Someone mentioned that they won an match on al basrah by having the whole team spawn as civi's and racking up the points.
As the community gets more familiar with .6 and civilians I can see the point penalties being exploited more often.
TEAR GAS FTW !!
