[Weapon] k98

Post by BLind »

Since i've recently learnt how to uv texture properly i went back and skinned a model i did a while ago. Just thought i'd share. Uses its own, texture, bump and specular maps.

In the coming weeks i hope to do a mp40, mg42, and a few winter germans that i'll hopefully be putting to use in a very short film.

Nice.

Do you have a bit of spare time these days?

Hey Blind, hard to tell what's going on with the normal and spec.

Maybe, the "How To Render a Scene" tuts found on the thumbnails on this page (top): http://www.game-artist.net/forums/index.php will help...

End result:

Nice work otherwise :)

Edit: here's how easy it is, took me 15 mins at the time for the PR grenade..

A crate hidden since '45 is discovered by the insurgents in an old military base..... you could justify it in any number of ways.
The Moisin-Nagrant is in there so why not a K98 w/ scope ?
Dual uzis so why not an MP40 ?
And DAMN .....the RPG and grenade look nice !
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

If I remember correctly there was a thread explaining that by far the most common bolt action rifle in the middle east is the Lee-Enfield no.4.

This was distributed to the desert tribesmen and local militia in the first world war by the British to help fight the Turkish.

It is also considered to be the most accurate rifle in WW2.

The K98 was used by the Turks, and after WWII they were widly distributed by the Soviets to thier allies. Finding it in the middle east is probubly fairly common. And the Isrealis had a ton of them too, IIRC.

While I would rather see an Enfield no.4, a Mauser would be a fine addition.

Oh, Jedi, the K98 is actually considered to be the most accurate of the issue bolt action rifles of the era. Lets face it, 3 of the most popular sniper rifles of WWI/WWII were basically mausers (the Mauser, the P14 and the M1903) The Enfield was very fast, but the action is inherrently less mechanically accurate than the Mauser action.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
