Firearm suggestion for Insurgents

Post by TristanYockell »

Hello Everyone, and Dev team. I was just thinking that the russian RPD light MG, or type 56 MG (same) would be a good support weapon for the insurgents.
It is still used by alot of rebel groups, and organised gangs ect world wide.

Heres a picture:

It was the lightest Support MG ever designed as far as I know. I'm not really sure as to why the russians replaced it with the RPK as the RPD was argueably a better all around weapon.
It was lighter, could be fired easily from standing position, extremly reliable, very simplistic design, cheap, accurate and effective out to 800m.
I think the only draw back was it did not have the ability to interchange barrels.

If you model it, im sure the devs would put it in, but now the PKM will have to do as they sort more important things out.

Doesn't Eve of Destruction have the RPD?

I think the RPD has been suggested for the insurgents before, but it is too short a word for the search function. We are more likely to use the RPK (7.62 x 39mm version) for the insurgents, though, since it is still in production.

Is the RPK the one in the MEC bunkers currently?

RPDs are plentiful in the iraqi black market as you can read in the book "Making A Killing" by James Ashcroft, just because something isnt still in production doesnt mean its not being used.

The RPK will be in v0.6 to suppliment the PKM for insurgents, IIRC, mainly as there is already a model and anims for it.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I just like the RPD better is all especialy since it is a more reliable, lighter weapon then the RPK.
It better suits a rugged, vintage feel for the insurgents nevermind it still being extremley common among insurgents, gangs, poorly funded wars ect.

Not when you're being locked on from the A10 or the Cobra you won't be a happy camper, haha. Besides the RPK on the truck is pretty useless with the limited view and line of fire...

Imo, the Militia should be the ones with the RPK. Because, if I'm not mistaken, the Russians used the RPK during the war in Chechnya, and since this Militia is Chechen based, wouldn't they be using guns they picked up during that war mostly?

dont take out the PKM to put it in!! i like it and all but the PKM is a beast and removing it would pretty much be a sin. just put it in along side the PKM, not over the top of it.
