The USMC is NEVER the only US fraction that engages in a conflict, so just having the Marines is unrealistic. Look at all the wars the US fought in, was it ever just the marines? No all branches(except the coast guard of course) fought in the wars. Now it is realistic to have one branch of the US military take part in 1 operation while another branch handles another(pacific campaign was Navy and Marines army fought in Europe) but not just 1 branch enters a conflict. Especially in Iraq its been the Marines and army, and since a large part of PR reality or BF2 war, is based around the Iraq campaign, it only makes sense to add the army.

Plus the US Army isn't a totally new fraction they share a lot of weapons with the marines but you can expect different kit setups and maybe different types of kits, and a few different weapons(like the marksman rifle is different for the army and the sniper rifle). But I think the army is a great addition and realistic to be in this mod.

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

Are the army guys going to have different skins and uniforms? Also i may be mistaken but i don't think the coast guard is the only branch that doesn't fight what does the national guard do...they are part of the military right?

Yeah, they'll have M4s rather than M16s and ACU not MARPAT. And of course they'll have different viechles.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Yeah, think there could be a quick Official Rundown on what the differences the Army and Marines will have in Project Reality? It's be really nice to see all the differences, even if they are just a work in progress list.

Well one difference on weapons is that the Army uses the M4 more than the Marines do, and the M16A2 rather than the M16A4. Altthough the A2's haven't been updated to A4s for the Marines in the mod. :p Probably see that in a future release. So you can expect the rifleman kit for the Army to have a M4 and the gernadier kit to use a M4 with a M203. Just speculation though.

The M16A4, along with its rifleman/officer, grenadier vairiants and scoped rifles with GLs for all factions (as all factions will then be in a position to get these without adversly affecting balance) are shedualed for v0.7.

The US army will be carrying M4s as thier main assault rifle, with the suitable rifleman and grenadier variants.

Thier uniform will be ACU, thier IFV will be the bradley, thier attack helicopter will be the AH-64D (probubly a modified version of the Brit WAH-64D seen in the v0.6 beta), M1Asomethingorother Abrams, Humvees, so on and so fourth.

us army? omg, who needs that lame faction? we already have the marines which represent the us forces. the us army would not offer anything new to this mod. what's next? us coast guards? us rednecks with their private arsenals?

imo the pr devs should either go on developing the existing factions (there are already enough), or add a totally new faction which actually offers new kits and weapons. european task force maybe? g36 or famas? now THAT would be interesting.

Its only an M4 (fixed carry handle, safe-semi-burst trigger group), not an M4A1 (current US SF weapon - removable carryhandle, safe-semi-full trigger group). Really, they'll most likly get shafted as they will have a less accurate, weaker version of the M16A4 the marines will get. Essentially, they'll inherit all the disadvantages of having the M4 with none of the bonuses. Unless the DEV's have something trickey up thier sleves.
