Fair point.

Tank pwning isnt bad sportsmanship if you have a 'full' crew, and a mission. If your plan is just to park the vehicle somewhere and click the mouse button, whats the fun part?
Agreed.

Also known as frag whoring and being selfish.

Taking when done properly with a team and goal in mind then it's acceptable.

They got owned, big deal....
Well i used the tank to support my squad, and was their armoured Squad Leader. They spawned on me, and attacked Facillity......

I was alone in the tank, and was basically just a stationary cannon!!

Yes they got powned:

Are people complaining because the tank is doing what it was built for?

Do people do nothing but complain?

If you find yourself in these situations, do you think complaining in chat is going to take that tank out?

Disagree. There's nothing wrong with solo-tanking and sometimes you have no choice when your tank crew is high on sugar. For example:

The other day I was in armor, staying several hundred meters off flags and supporting my squad as they attacked them; basically keeping the armor in one place and occasionally moving to get a better angle. A new player joins our squad, jumps in the tank, and starts driving it around... driving into destructible buildings or moving every 2 seconds which prevents me from ineffectively aiming the turret. I ask him to stop so I can target enemies and cover our squad, so he drives the tank right into the city next to buildings and alley ways where insurgents are spawning and we start taking critical hits.

Frustrated, I asked him to leave the tank and he responds with some answer like "the tank should have a crew, KID, don't be selfish". After 5-10 minutes of this I left the tank and joined our infantry, and labeled as a whiny baby. Soon after the tank dies and we lose our armor support.

Tanks are meant to support troops, and the best way I've found to do that is by remaining stationary, at a distance, and rain down hell to the point the enemy is demoralized and gives up on the flag our troops are trying to capture.

Frag whoring? Selfish? As long as you're supporting your team, it's a good thing.

I have to say I love people like that when I'm on the other team.
Mestia is a great example of how not to use armor.
The smacktards drive the Warrior right up to the bunker making it so easy to flank and destroy when if they stayed back they could control the whole area.
Tanks really suck if you aren't in one.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

These are also the same people who fire the .50 cal at heavy armor which only gives away your position.

Is it possible to add a "lock" to the hatch preventing anyone from entering, OR, better yet, an "ejection seat" feature that launches retard drivers in such a trajectory as to provide effective skeet shooting practice? :2gunsfiri

Personally, I hate when people drive off with tanks by themselves, because they think they can do better alone. Yes, there are retarded drivers/gunners out there, but there are also good ones. Some people don't even make the effort to see if there's somebody competent who's willing to crew a tank with them... Then, they get their asses kicked by an actual decent tank crew, with two pairs of eyes and the ability to stop, shoot, and move quickly.

This is also where locked squads and squad control help. Kick out the smacktards you don't want in your tank, or lock the squad so they can't join.

Hey, I was on the same squad at that time (it TB). We sure ran them over the next one. By aiding and abetting HAT. Said it before, say it again ... 7 arty strikes on 2 people ...

Then I got pissed and went as grunt and killed 9 folks in 2 minutes yelling on ventrilo "YOU WANT WAR??? I'LL GIVE YOU WAR!!!" All the while R@ge was tankwhoring. ;)

if al basrah were played by a competent team they would destroy. those 5 or whatever apcs could absolutley DOMINATE the map. stick one near south vcp, one north of mosque, 2 covering the fields, and one in back yard, youd have a lockdown on the perimiter of the city

tank pwning is fine if youre by yourself. and whoring kills helps your team. I dont know how many times ive parked the abrams on the blown south vcp bridge. you can give such good cover down that main street, if youre working with competent players taking/defending factory (which used to be the focal point of the map) was easy. and if you had another competent tank to the north, youd be golden

I am fine with tanks kicking *** at a distance. I think the current RPGs are accurate enough but I guess the devs could add some newer RPGs around Basra by version 0.7. You would need something better than a RPG-7 if you wanted to do more than dent a Challenger 2.
