Please place limits on certain player movement

Post by GodsHolyMember »

Hello again everyone...this is such a fun mini-mod, I can't wait to see the full blown mod yet to come.

So down to business. I am rather frustrated with the player's ability to dolphin dive and recover and shoot all at the same time. Especially with the GL issue already at hand.

please, if possible, remove the player's ability to shoot while jumping and also while going prone, just like how sprinting removes one's ability.

second, if possible, remove the player's ability to jump when they don't have enough stamina (i'm sure that this has already been mentioned before)

finally, could the stamina recovery rates be drastically different for the various classes? Where the lighter the class, the faster the stamina recovers while moving (relative to the heavier laden classes), but slower when staying still compared to the heavy classes.

For instance, the heavy classes, AT, Engineer and Support classes recover their stamina faster than the light classes while sitting still but run out of it sooner, and DO NOT gain stamina while moving (this allows these classes to move quickly short distances, get winded on long open sprints, but be able to maneuver rather quickly on CQB style maps so long as they choose a rather close spot to run to next).

The light classes on the other hand, like the sniper and spec-ops, will have a much greater overall sprinting distance and the ability to recover stamina while moving. But I think that they should not be able to recover stamina as fast as the heavy classes while they are sitting still so that the advantages of their mobility don't completely overwhelm the heavier classes' short distance mobility.

I hope that these sorts of changes will give the heavy classes a little boost since right now the Spec Ops and Snipers are able to significantly outpace the heavies. Not that there's anything wrong with being able to sprint further and longer than a heavy class, I feel that it is unrealistic that a heavy class isn't able to recover more quickly considering in real life, heavy gear specialists must start their training by being able to move and keep up with the rest of a unit with all of the extra equipment, while snipers and ops people focus not so much on load bearing excersizes but more on stealth and survival skills to do without the heavy loads of regulars.

With these changes, squads will be able to stick together a lot better on CQB style maps, but the overall long-distance abilities of the light classes will shine on the huge open maps forcing heavy classes to utilize vehicles instead.

wehay first post, hello all

being a big DoD fan i'm biast but wot the hell

i believe DoD has this issue spot on, if any1 tries to bunnyhop every1 just laughs as they get lit up :)

inacse u dont know the system in dod - sprinting depletes ur stamina, so does jumping and you cant jump when your stamina level is low, u can get off off 1 or sometimes 2 jumpes max at a time. You canot shoot while jumping. Although you can do a dolphin dive, however the movement is extremely clunky and not realy worthwhile as you cant shoot jumping anyway.

I'll have to agree with that, ive played a bit of DOD and DOD:S and have to say that they do alot of things very well. as you said jumping removes the weapon from play and so does going prone. i'm a little dissapointed at how jumping no longer affects stamina and you can bunny hop(but without your weapon) in DOD:S. anyway, as blind said, they do have a great system for player movement.

BTW welcome to the forums blind

agreed, I personally like DOD's player movement restrictions more than DOD:S, but both are good. But I can certainly tell, that we are all in agreement about the ability to shoot while jumping/diving, and the ability to jump even while in a stamina deficit.

But you guys didnt reply to my second request about adjusting the staminas for the various classes (i.e. Heavyweight = short sprint time, fast recovery while still, no/little recovery while moving...Lightweight = long sprint time, slower recovery {relative to heavyweight} while still, able to recover stamina while moving).

I personally would like this to be a feature in PRMM as well as the first half of my post. What does everyone think? Devs?
