Is it possible to have the tank/vehicle actually rendered useless but not exploded so the crew still is alive like in most western tanks. But put a fire inside too when it starts to burn. So the crew has to bail or else they burn to death. After that there should be an explosion simulating an ammo/fuel explosion.

Thats what my whole suggestion about almost all the vehicles was. The developers said they havn't figured out a way to have vehicles become "useless" or immobilized...Its all done by hitpoints. At the last few hit points is where everything happens i guess. So im not sure its able to be changed. That might be hardcoded.
