Designated Marksman is the way to go, especially in the small maps of BF2. You can stick with the SVD mind, as that's the original roll it was made for, it just happaned to excell at great ranges too so it became a proper sniper rifle. I don't know too much about the Chinese rifle to comment so I wont, but from it's semi-auto mechanism it'd be be safe to assume it'll be fine as a DM rifle.
The dragunov was never meant to be a sniper rifle. It was supposed to support the AKs at longer distances, as everybody knows the AK was inaccurate at greater distances.

He's right.

The SVD was developed to extend the reach of a standard infantry squad. Each soviet squad was supposed to have a designated marksman with an SVD. It's maximum effective range is around 800-1200 meters depending on the scope used.

It would def. fit perfectly into BF2 as it already does :]

in PRMM the SVD is more a marksman rifle then a sniper rifle, just check it out =).

In real life, the limitation is that snipers take time and money to train. They also use expensive gear. Thus they are not high in number.

So, limit them in number and you have a realistic fix :-D

I play sniper religiously in vanilla BF2, so I'm not just saying this. Yes, it would suck if someone took my beloved sniper class.. but oh well, such is life. All the classes are great to play with anyhow.
If a true kit limit could not be acheived, the best course is reducing sniper abilities to discourage people who won't be utilizing the kit to its maxiumum potential. Otherwise kit limitations are fine, but I'd still like to see scope sway so even kiddie snipers won't be misusing it.

Swabs; with a rifle butt against your shoulder, which rises and falls as you breathe, holding or at least pausing my breathing has always worked best for me. I've got a very nice target paper with four .22 holes in a pencil eraser at 50 feet and iron sights; not sniping by far, but heck, I was a 14 year old Boy Scout. Anyway, with the camera directly to your eye, breathing isn't so much of a factor. As for the twitches; yes, that is a possibility after a few seconds, so it is important to pause briefly.

This is coming from an ametu... recreational shooter. Any trained snipers are more than welcome to call me the fucking moron.

Hey guys, great mod...loving it. Except the snipers. I love the idea of waiting for a shot....its great!!! I play sniper a few time every round cause its easy to destroy the other team. Just get some where high and you got the most point in the round. To tell you the truth, it would be nice to take out point all together.

The idea the PR teaem has about limiting the snipers is great...and all you "dont limit the sniper guys"....there not limiting it at all. you just have to want to be a sniper for the team not the points.

There is no ranking in PR, ppl play snipers because of the points/kills. Or they have no skill in fighting an enemy at close range. ;) ( going prone, scoping shooting doesnt count, for this doesnt require skill ) Wait till the snipers have a delay when scoping and going prone, when someone manages to do the same we can talk about skill :)

Snipers should have to dial in their scopes for distance and stuff like that. Maybe in the command bar or something.
