The true problem with the choppers isnt so much the helicopter itself it's the people who use them, which has always been an issue and there always seems to be an argument about who is going to be the pilot and how well they are doing.. I think everyone in game has a diffrent opinion about how the helicopters are suppose to be used, personally if i am flying attack i will go into a pattern around my squad or a large group of infantry and wait for them to call out targets, or give me commands. Some people dont like that...

Well, the best thing to do before playing the game as a supportive role is to tell who you want to help you that you are helping them.wojing_rotorhead wrote:personally if i am flying attack i will go into a pattern around my squad or a large group of infantry and wait for them to call out targets, or give me commands. Sometimes on Kashan, I take the role of ATC and Aircraft Technical Support and Maintenance. I'll go engineer, grab a supply truck, and head over to the runway. Tell everyone that the Run way is blocked and they should ask for landing clearance before landing. I'll go up and down the run way making sure it's fully repaired, and if an Aircraft needs to land, I'll take my Supply Truck over to him, get out, wrench his aircraft while my truck speeds up his rearm, and tell my team the run way is blocked. The pilot tells me he rearmed, I move my truck away, tell him he is cleared for take off, and wait for the next one to come in.
Or in Al Basrah, I'll take the Merlin, circle the city at 150 Altitude units, and tell me team "Merlin is on station and ready for extraction, transportation, and parties." Then half my team asks for me to pick them up, so I guess it works.
Just make sure your team knows you're there to help.

I see you mastered the art of typing while flying... Except asking pilots to type out requests to land can be a bad idea... Hopefully, you can do that through the commander, provided that the commander is not a retard, and that the pilots have their own squad (otherwise, by the time the message gets to you, the pilot will already be over the runway).ZanderArch wrote:Well, the best thing to do before playing the game as a supportive role is to tell who you want to help you that you are helping them.

maby i ned to bind some custom sentances so that i can let people know my intentions while i fly cause typing while flying is very iritating.. I love flying attack on al basarh i was hoping that they would add some united states army helicopters like the 58-d and the 64-d long bow and maby even a ch-47 that would be great for a mass air assult...

-The best game I've played with chopper transportation was when there was a dedicated helo team and SLs could just radio the commander with transport requests and he'd relay the message to the helo squad. The pilot was up there the whole time transporting people everywhere and followed orders to the point, this gave us a big mobility advantage which probably won us the game. If SL and Rally was down the helo would pick him up at base(Or wherever he was), get him back into position and the spawn point would be up again in no time, flanking attacks were very easy and he could also give supporting fire on requested targets. Damn fine pilot. We were playing PLA on the map with Government office(Can't remember the name right now). It's a very good feeling when all the teams are cooperating under a sane commander(Aren't many of those), I generally freak out completely when playing Commander because noone requests arty/supplies and generally disregard orders. This has led me to hunt down and execute many a SL who's just camping somewhere(Usually waiting for tank or helo, then proceeding to crash it or run it off a cliff or right into hostile armor), much to the dismay of the TG admins... It's so rare to get good teamwork going on public servers.
