who would like to see a few 'epic' maps?
i was thinking to my self, -somebody brought up oman on another board for vanilla,
i remembered the first time i played the adjusted oman for pr, i was usmc and there were about 20 of us all pinned down on the beach to the left of the map with an apc.
the apc driver was really good and managed to keep it alive there exposed for a good 15 mins.
anyway, the left hand beach has no cover apart from little sand dunes -just big enough to hide crouched behind. so yeh there were 20 of us all prone along the dues fireing at the almost whole mec team keeping them pinned down.
the odd nade launcher round landed in the dunes every half a min and there were around 4 medics running between dunes rezzing and healing people, while being shot at -think saving private ryan, there were also assults piling out the ammo and smoke nades going off everywhere.
any way we all decided that we couldnt stay in that position any longer and it was a sort of d-day moment when all of us got up and charged into the mec.
-we all died......
but anyway the round was almost over. i just wish that some of the new maps in development while using teamwork also create a sense of an epic battle, where there are choke points that everybody has to get through.
another example is fallujah- spelling? around the canyon flag, you always get masses of teamwork with people trying to scale the mountains and ats blowing down the gate... as well as giving covering fore as your squad cross the rope bridge.
i just wish more maps would be created that have at least 1 majour teamplay feature built into them where the whole team is forcably brought together by terain and has to battle together through it.
im not really advocating a mape like hills of hamyong where its suicide but a map that is mostly open but has definate choke points that are devised to create whole team work not squad team work.

i think a good map will be a desert map with a few sand bag bunkers a big sand bag line infrnt and a big trench line too with ammo dumps and cuz there are going to be mortars, you can put some mortars behind the bunkers in a trench ammo hole(a big square trench hole with some army camoflauge above it) put stationary mg's inside bunkers nor on the sandbags
and infront an open area with some rocks to take cover behind the place is on a small hight it should be a small map where all the insurgents just assault with everything they got this fortified area and let insurgents have a few technicals and maybe one or two t-58 tank now when i say small i mean the smallest 16 size map and a gunship heli base that will have 2 cobras noly with nothing else no humvee no tank just 2 cobras i hope i am not fantisizing here too much cuz if you think of it it will be a realy cool thing
something like that

but start watching from 2:30 minutes cuz the beggining isnt important

i havn't polayed 0.6 basra but i got bored stiff as insurgents in 0.5 after and hour and a half...
its just the same old same old with everybody flying around in choppers because they are 1337 and nobody actually bothering to attack the city.
as us though you could always find something to amuse your self.

It's fun all the time period.danthemanbuddy wrote:Basrah as insurgent gets boring after an hour.
However you play as British though, its fun all the time for me![]()
I love being insurgent just as much, the sheer satisfaction from blowing up a warrior is just immense.
Never get bored of Basrah, in the Beta I must have played it 95% of the time compared to other maps.

The 0.6 Basrah can be epic.
I have had some really good rounds with the new insurgent mode and map layout
Epic battles do need a good map but sometimes it's just a matter of getting a good group of players fighting hard to make for a great battle. Even in your example you talked about sitting on a wide open beach, no statics, cool destructable buildings or anything fancy just a good group of players (both sides) having a serious fire fight.

Finally played AAS Basrah today on iGi.... it was ok. Everyone kept shooting civs though
There needs to be some sort of health decrease for killing a civvie without a knife/vehicle.
You may say this will lead to everyone running around with medic kits (they shouldn't be allowed to heal themselves) or other medics, but this will encourage teamwork.
