Anyway, this gets a "meh" from me. Japanese forces are consitutionally bound to be purely defensive. Those troops in Iraq are engineers, IIRC there soley for the purpose of reconstruction, they take no part in security operations.

New skins, a new 5.56 rifle and a couple new viechles. fun fun fun.

Now the French, the French have some very interesting equipment that I would be interiuged to see in the mod.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The JGSDF is in Iraq, as a humanitarian force (along with the JASDF airlifting, and JMSDF refueling coalition ships). Since they won't have any combat there, I'm thinking of a PLA invasion of the Japanese home islands.

Alot of this mod could be a simple reskin/modification of existing models. Here's what I'd like included:

Type 90 MBT
We could probably just take the Abrams model, and tweak it.

Type 87 AA

Type 89 IFV
Probably could tweak the Bradley model.

OH1
Recon chopper.

AH64D
PR already has one in the works, no?

UH60
Just add the external fuel tanks.

The jets would just be reskins of the F16 and F15. (but wouldn't realistically be deployed on a carrier)

Sig P220
Sidearm

Type 89
Solid stock for infantry (I have a replica that we could use for modelling). Folding stock, minus bipod, plus vert. grip and reddot for SF.

Type 64
For the DMR (add a scope). That would be the hardest one to model, since there aren't many pictures, and the only replica is rare and expensive. That's where the CQB mod folks could really come in.

Minimi for the support weapon. We could take the existing M249, and replace the solid stock with a wire stock.

Anti-armor would be either the Panzerfaust 3t or the Carl-Gustav.

Sniper would be the Remington M700.

I would like to remodel the helmet to be more Japanese style. The difference between the American PAGST helmets and the Japanese helmets, are the ear covers. They're alot more rounded and shorter in the Japanese version (replica on the way we could use for reference).

I downloaded some real JGSDF weapon sounds from some Japanese uploader site I found.

I love the CQB mod, but it's not as extensive as I'd like it to be, and there's never anyone online.

I'm fairly certain we'd be able to use the Japanese voices from the CQB mod without problems, as they seem to have taken them from BF2. They use the Euroforces voices for the terrorists.

And i don't think the Abrams can pass as a type 90, but i think the Norther Conflict mod has a Leapord 2A4N which could definately pass

Eh--I wouldn't want to be complete manager--maybe some kind of supervisor? I'm still working on my skinning skills and thinking about modelling.

The Leapard's turret could pass as a Type 90, but the 90's chassis is closer to the Abrams'.

The whole "Japan only has a defensive Army" is about as real as 1938 Germany not being armed offensively.

They are one of the world's top military spenders.

We previously approached the CQB guys about collaboration and/or Black Sand Studios, but they were not interested.

The Dev Team is all for seeing community efforts spring up .. but we won't endorse or support them until a decent plan is put forward, including some resource commitments from the community.

Technically, they are only a defensive force. Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution forbids warefare, with the exception of self-defense.

Define "plan" and "resources".

I actually have a map still in cencept on the Chinese invading a souther Japanese island (around Okinawa) with the USMC going, but if the JSDF is added, i could try make it for them...
