However since off-road terrain is variable, and this is pretty much the whole point, you can't really properly compare max road speed and max off-road speed either. Average off-road speed takes into account the variability of the terrain. I'd argue that being on a consistent off road surface would affect the acceleration more then the top speed, however this kind of knowledge is based primarily on top gear and other such programmes
Would the whole issue be a bit of a ballache for mappers or would it be slightly less achey ball situation of assigning different textures to different physical properties (If it's possible in the first place).
