Getting used to kits.

Post by demonicklown445 »

Ok I can get a few kits in the game such as the support and crewmen and pilot. But its the anti air, anti tank, and sniper/marksmen that I cant get. I have been in many positions where my team has told me to hit a target, and I cant do it very well with out a scope up to my eye.

Can anybody tell me how the different kit system works, I cant seem to figure all of it out.

You request it...? I don't understand your question.

Assuming your not on the Beta; http://guide.realitymod.com/index.php?t ... t_Limiting.

Some of the heavier kits requires that you request them at a base or APC, and not a RP.

HellDuke wrote:Yep, as for getting the kits like marksman and sniper i'd suggest a faster pc and connection. I ussualy am on the first spawn wave so while others run up next to the flag and think what they want i just stand behind the wall and request sniper (or marksman depending on my mood) from behind the wall (it's the range that matters)
Please tell me whats the reason to get sniper\marksman at the round start ? I never see those ppl like you ( who get kits first and hold it for entire round ) countersnipe enemy snipers when needed and theres also no chance of getting leet sniper kit when theres an actual need for it . Please explain what you all are doing ? I really have no idea ...

I once posted a long bit of how kit selection works in the very start of a round.

Watch for the message in the top left corner of the screen when requesting the kits. It will tell you if there are any available. There are only a limited amount of each kit so you can't always request one. Certain kits (heavy AT for sure) can't be requested from the RP's but can be from main base and the back of APCs (litterally like 2 feet from the back of the US APC, or the side for MEC APC's).

Second thing is you need to pick up the kit after you request it, it's not instantly yours. Also watch that sometimes the kit will not appear on the ground, its a known bug but you can still press the pick up key and recieve the kit.

To go slightly off topic here:
I don't see anything wrong with grabbing a sniper kit at the beggining of a round. What is so wrong with that? If you play like a lone wolfer super l33t sniper it doesn't matter when you get the kit in game, your still a useless tit. If you grab the kit right off the hop and provide intel to the commander and support for the team great, plus theres the added bonus that the useless tit can't get the kit. The sniper is powerfull kit, it's all in how you play it.

its just I have been stuck in many a positions where I could really use a scoped weapon with great accuracy. But I've only gotten the marksmen kit once. Never got to shoot any body with it.

I've picked up a sniper kit, and had to keep killing the mec that wanted his rifle back each time he came up to get it.

But I know how you can get most of the kits, I've explored it just a little bit.
I just can never get the sniper kit, I squad up instantly, get to my squad and sometimes get the M249 as soon as I can from a rally point. But, I usually die unless my target cant see me, and I have the clear to shoot.

You stick with your squad and clear out any enemies as you progess from a distance. This alows your squad to quickly get into a flag area and dig in. then you just provide support and spot enemies.
Smart words , but I never see it ingame unless it is me ... and I mostly play support\rifleman\medic as it is always close to impossible to get 'leet' kits .

Well just remeber that its like that for everyone  There are plenty of times I could use a wrench, anti-tank or medic pack but don't have one. That is where the squad mates come in and a SL who plans ahead. Now of course most squads dont have a sniper all the time but with some practice your range and accuracey with semi fire assualt rifles will increase. I use the binocs alot as well which help.

Oh and don't worry about getting a scoped rifle and not shooting, sometimes your of more use scouting and calling out targets then getting the kill  I will agree that I get very frustrated though when I do happen to grab a valuable kit only to die without using it

but if you really want a sniper kit download a few nice open maps and try them in SP you just have to get from a supply drop though

I was actually looking in on a few military tactics. I noticed that there is a sniper in each squad and each squad should consist of; Medic, assault, engineer, sniper, anti-tank, anti-air. Some can be excluded, if PR is supposed to be the most realistic mod then the sniper restrictions should be lessened a little.

Also, I have discovered the use of a .50 caliber sniper, the m95. I am an expert .50 cal sniper, broad cross hairs just prove more of a challenge, and I want to know how to get one in PR. I must know!

You might want to re-read that manual or throw it out. I'm not a military expert but I don't think a squad (8 men irl) have all those things. There is something called a designated marksmen per squad I believe (has a scoped m14 not the sniper rifle). It may have been a larger unit that they were refereing to. There are enough kits to go around in game, they don't always get used appropriately.

I get that you love to snipe, I haven't meet too many people here that don't enjoy picking off people at long range. What you will hopefully find with PR is that a slick working squad that communicates, manuvers and supports each other will be much more satisfying and in the end will probably win more then lose. Sniping in PR is important for sure but I would take a solid teamwork oriented team against a whole enemy team with m95's and win every round.

I've been working fine in a squad, its the lack of a compitant squad leader. I havent quite gotten being one down, so I just join, not lead. But who couldnt love sniping? Its fun when you see that message about them hating snipers.

So far I've beem using the assault rifle for the mec(grenadier) and the spec ops for UK and american
