lol. Just kidding! It does seem that the amount of stuff you have to remember is getting larger, and larger. It will still make for a great game once we all re-learn to play again.

Thanks for all the input , I now know that the crumbling clan i belong to cant handle this type of Realisim.
So the rush to comprehend it all is no longer a priority. I now can take my time and have fun with what Is finaly the computer version of that old board game we all loved "Squad Leader " You all ever play that ?

yeah they're always useful to see where people are shooting from. then you take out the sniper, revive them and let them run along again

Well, you must take into account that not everyone thinks the same way. You may be enjoying a more realistic experience because thats what you were looking for in the 1st place, but maybe your friends think that they in for the arcade fun that vBF2 provides to them.

The mod is aimed at a particular group of people -- those that seek realism within the BF2 platform, within its aknowleged limits. People must adapt to the gameplay the mod provides, because we wont adapt (or dumb down) the mod for 'mass appeal'. Thats what you have vBF2 for

This is like a different game, within an old game. It takes time, it takes some effort, and most of all, it takes motivation. If they dont like it, and they're not motivated, then they'll never stay...and since the mod will only push forward (away from vBF2 in terms of realism and gameplay), then their fate is sealed.

and remember there's always other mods out there,
POE2, DCon, AIX, and many more are aimed for fun and arcade gameplay, whereas mods like PR and USI i think are more serious, tactical mods. And then there's mods like BF2 Assault which are a mix of both, realistic weapon damages, bleeding, big guns, silenced weapons, a mix. I'm sure there's something out there for everyone.

By all means, keep your questions comming if you dont find them posted/answered anywhere else. I will tell you that I like realistic gameplay (a lot) and when I came to the mod, I still had to take some time out to learn the ropes of things. This is something that I'm sure you had to go through as well. In the end, only those that like it stay here.

Now, by your reaction I dont know if you're feeling offended? I don't think anyone has gone out of line in their opinions/recommendations.

New for v0.6, medics now cannot heal themselves with their medic bag. To heal themselves temporarily they may use field dressings. The way the medic bag works is not different: you must click and hold to use the medic bag.

By the way, this statement taken from the Wiki has 1 error. Can you spot it?

If my memory does serve me, you do not have to hold the mouse button to use the medic bag in the previous versions. If that is the case than I must be drinking a lot more than I first thought.

Actually, re-reading that sentence - I am now confused. Does it mean, choose the medicbag and simply just hold it in your hand? Or does it mean, choose the medicbag, and keep the first mouse button pressed while healing the patient

What it should be saying is something in the lines of:

"Choose the medicbag and position yourself 1 inch away from the patient. Press and hold the fire button while healing the injured. As an injured soldier it would be wise to stay still while being treated, since the medic has to be in short proximity to heal you."

Now lads, fix my English.

Er, what about when tickets win the game?

What if the enemy has a strong defense? You, as the attacker, may have more flags..

But if you dont have a ticket bleed in your favour, and you're throwing your men against a strong wall of defense, your team will lose because of tickets.

Dont you think?

I don't think he meant any harm by his comment, Steel. Was a bit confused though as that post was from very first page so i thought it was a line from a much larger post. I'm new here too. I only started playing PR again (not that I played it a lot before) and signed up to forums start of this week.

I thought maybe he just meant that guide is being worked on.

You'd be surprised how much people go out of their way to help people in game even for pretty simple stuff like getting kits. What people don't appreciate though is TKers and people in charge who should really be SMs and not SLs.

Yeah, the medic guide bit is totally wrong. What it should say instead is that the only difference to BF2 is that you can't throw the medic packs on ground for people to pick up. You could always heal someone just by holding pack in hand in normal BF2, it just healed them far slower than lobbing packs at them.

Yes, you have to hold Left Mouse Button down (same as shooting) to have the medic bag actually healing you. Not to mention, that the healing distance was reduced so much, that you cant heal yourself and basically have to go prone inside your buddy to heal him. Some find jumping into a vehicle with a medic more efficient, since "ambulances" still function.

Actually, you are wrong. Or just confusing. First off, in 0.5 you only need to choose the medic bag. In 0.6 that would be completely redundant because you actually can't heal yourself (unless you [censor]). Thats what the 3 field dressings are for.

Annoying yet?

Good point about the car. I'm gonna get one guy to drive, and I'll sit in the back while the theme song of MASH plays on loop.

yeah i was gonna say that unless that's new in 0.6 you don't have to hold any buttons.

are you serious that medics can no longer heal themselves? that totally sucks since healing yourself depletes your first aid anyway doesn't it?

plus with all the running after fallen comrades, a medic needs to be able to sort himself out after risking his life.

Sad to see people are getting less and less accustomed to learning curves nowadays. They need to know everything right away. Part of a great game/mod or whatever is to learn how it is used/played. Makes the experience more enjoyable in the long run. No surprise people are getting bored so fast when they know everything straight from the beginning. They are fed with everything they need to know and there is no challenge at all. We live in a carebeared society.

People are lacking patience. Its sad.

Sorry its just what I thought when I read the original post.
