24 Hour suggestion cease fire

Post by Long Bow »

I propose that we all take a break from suggesting things for 24 hours starting from the end of this post. It seems like 1/3 of all the posts here over the past three days are locked. The Devs need a break from all the suggestions and thread locking.

Well, am I totaly crazy or should the suggestion forum take a time out for a day?

If its really too much for devs atm, they could simply bring the website down for a day, or lock the entire forum section...

"In before the lock".

It is a post which implies

1) That a thread is sufficiently either useless or inflammatory to warrant locking
2) That the poster of the "IBTL" post acknowledges the imminent lock and just wants to get their "word" in before it happens.

FWIW I don't think a 24 hour ceasefire is a bad idea.

FWIW - for what it's worth

I wouldn't mind seeing the words 'special' and 'forces' censored :P

Maybe special, but not forces...forces can apply to other stuff, not just SF

Star Wars ftw

You could force a ban on people who use these words, especially "Special Forces".

i suggest that we have a committee to suggest suggestions to another committee and then we can all suggest members for an oversight committee that will make suggestions concerning the other committee's suggestions.

Can sentences/statements be censored?

Like "we need fastroping on Blackhawks" "we need uber-cool SF kit"

I will take that into account and advise you on future development of said commitee in the first part upon a decision by the comitee in the second part. I have no idea if what I just wrote made any sense

Sorry but I did not originally post this to start a flame war. I fear though now that this will get locked. I honestly could not get over the shear volume of threads that were suggesting already suggested ideas or just way out of line with the PR doctorine.

LOL.

Seriously though there needs to be a 24 hour cool down for suggestions. Someone just posted a thread suggesting the insurgents get WW2 Russian planes in game and he posted a pic of a USA plane!?

I'm sorry, I didn't recognise that. To return to the menu press "Back", to enter a suggestion, please press "Alt-F4". ;)

...Sorry for spamming this one, it's actually a good idea, I just can't - sadly - see anyone paying attention.

I was laughing with you !
There is no way to stop all the suggestions although there have been noticeably less threads that focus on complaining about things which is a shame because it was so much fun to pick on those people.

But on topic and being semi-serious it might be a good idea to close the forums to everything except technical problems for 24hr after the general release.

It is going to require an enormous amount of patience the first few days as .6 is far more complicated than .5 and the player base and reputation of PR have grown since then.

I don't think this is a good idea, the problem is people only put about five minutes into their suggestions. there are some suggestions that are well thought out, i.e. i spent at least an hour thinking up my idea for a large scale british map, i took the time to make a detailed map. and these noobs come in get off topic and get the thread i put quite alot of effort into locked.

3 things we need to emphasize in this forum is
  1. Put effort into your posts
  2. Stay on topic
  3. use constructive Criticism

I think we would need an age limit and a signed statement attesting to the fact that you had not watched BHD in the last 30 days.
