WTF? Not a good idea. If anything they would be looking at old Russian jets as I doubt you would find working WW2 era aircraft and people familiar with them. Oh and two of the pics are of Russian aircraft, the third is US.
Oh, and the 3rd picture is of early model P-51s, which are American.
Anyway, this dosen't make a lick of sense
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

As has been posted elsewhere, you can pick up a Mig-21 for $40,000 so it's likely that any "militia" would probably have late-vietnam era jets, rather than piston-driven aircraft.
"It is not the responsibility of a defender to leave the objective unguarded just so his opponent sucks less."
The main trouble with planes for insurgents / militia would be that they are comparably hard to move undetected and also require too much infrastructure to be concealed well. One would need to have a suitable runway, fuel depots and storage for the armament. Then you need equipment for the maintenance so the aircraft can be kept in a reasonable state.
If you are not detected on the radar when ferrying the plane into your area of operations it will definitly be noticed when flying it's first (and persumably last) sortie. So the use of an aircraft for such groups is not woth the effort it creates.
The only possible reason I could see for something like this is if two of the low tech unconventional factions are fighting against each other rather than one of the conventional forces. And that wont happen for a long time as it would require the coding of a "team 1" malitia or insurgency style faction.

Well they used prop aircraft in Vietnam so I would imagine that somewhere in Africa a prop plane was used for CAS in the last 20 years.
It has to be easier to maintain a prop plane than a jet and if you don't have modern weapons a P51 would be some bad *** CAS.

My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

I think that if insurgents or even militia had jets would be either the MIG 15,MIG 17, or MIG 19, and maybe even a MIG 21, more likly though it would be the 15 or 19.
The point is if the insurgents had the money and infrastructure to field a jet fighter then they wouldn't really be insurgents anymore.
Besides, I hate jets and jet pilots so it's not like we need more reasons for people to slum around the main waiting for "their" plane.

Ok the only Faction id Consider to Give a Fighter/Bomber Aircraft to would be the Militia as your average Joe Jihad cant fly but in Russia and its Closest Countrys you probably Can still find Early Era Jets such as the Mig-15 or to be considered even more lucky a Mig-21. Both of these Aircraft were Designed to be able to be Mass Produced and Easy to mantain as in Korea and Vietnam. Even Missiles (only Mig 21) could be found as they are as Comman as AK Clips. But thats only if i Agreed
No Aircraft for Insurgents/Militia! (unless the Devs thing otherwise )
