Where have all the good pilots gone?

I`ve been checking the sign-ups for Campaign 5 lately and it seems that there are no skilled pilots out there?

Everybody seems to answers on the Pilot/Crewmen Y/N (State Helo/Jet/APC/Armour): with: "No Jet, THX!"

This is somewhat surprising me as every time i play on a PR map with jets there are about 5 people on each side waiting for planes to spawn?

Is this because everybody wants to try the planes and afterwards sees for oneself that it`s not as easy as in Vanilla?



Funnily enough there are a lot of people that state they can fly the transport chopper, but ingame nobody uses them? This is somewhat strange, isn`t it?

I voted never. I have tried a few times and can only get off the ground followed by a wild spining, flayling death 30 seconds later

I just don't feel like investing the time to learn to fly. I am much more effective on the ground and have no patience to wait for aircraft on the off chance I get to use it

love flying transport choppers but never touch the attack ones..

birds are still tippy though so i occasionally crash...should practice more...

I'm not a great pilot but I can fare well enough if no-one else on the side is using any of the birds. Don't necessairly kill much with the fighters, but I can stay alive and keep the other team's bird from hunting friendlies while it tangles from me.

Choppers I find pretty easy to fly, given space and no-one deliberately hunting me. The 'hawk is a bugger now, I've found- far prefer the LB and it's equivilants.

ever seen an A10 flying upside down over facility on albasrah, or the merlin on ghost train flying under the bridge and landing safely in a tricky spot in the jungle, or the blackhawk flying in circles over facility (albasrah again), then thats probably me, i use the name P1L0T4L1FE so if you see me at airport then say hi... and a nive jack daniels and coke if you got any.

Wouldn't say i'm the best, but I can fly anything though my main experience is with the LB's. When I first came to the mod I spent all my time playing Muttrah just to fly LB's, then it was the cobra on AL Basrah, now i'm loving the Apache on Al Basrah (even if it does handle a bit like a pregnant whale!) have only flown a little on Kashan, Jets piss me off because I hate the way track IR works with them. If the devs made mouse free look work in Jets like it does in Jeeps then i'd probably spend all my time Jet whoring on Kashan

It has taken alot of practice but basically if I don't touch anything I can last 30 seconds. As soon as I try to do anything it's crash and burn. Hmm sounds like my sex-life... ohhh burrrrnnnn. Wait that didn't work out like I wanted

im a good transport pilot, fly em like no tomorow, super low when i need to, and im very good at getting myself out of bad situations, such as when i fly so low my skids ouch the ground and can keep my copter level.

-Flying an A10 upside down is so easy
-Merlin is the easiest helicopter to fly in the game
-Blackhawk is so easy to fly in circles

Those aren't real top pilot's things. Pilots should get targets from CO. and SLs, they shouldn't fly very low and be very vulnerable to AA. Just my opinion...

I only fly the small fast helicopters, Littlebird and that MEC thing. I so want the LYNX!!

Back to the Proving Grounds for me to test out my flying skills again. I never fly in a pub server because I get bouts of lag which is annoying and whenever I get back to good play performance while flying, I'm either about to crash or I'm already dead.

I love to fly everything, the handling in Pr is Great, the only problem i find sometimes is the odd Lag Spike ........... Where you end up upside down on your Rotor Blades killing your Squad and anything else in your path.

Might I suggest you try the Official PR Tournament if you haven't tried it already? We're always on the look out for good pilots who can work within the structure of the team!

I never fly on public servers, because last time I flew this happened:

I never fly fighters/CAS aircraft for the same reason I never snipe: both the aircraft and sniper rifles are impossible to get due to 50 whores already camping them in any given server.

I really enjoy using attack choppers, especially as the gunner, though I can fly them too. Of course, you need someone who can do their job well and can communicate if you wanna have a successful chopper crew, so often I end up with bad experiences. On top of that, there are also chopper whores out there (although fewer than planewhores), and so I rarely get to gun or fly an attack chopper (once every couple of weeks, usually).
