It would be nice to have some pure defensive maps where one team must defend a lone heavy dug in base with maybe a couple lesser defended forward bases, instead of both teams fighting for a small FB or hill or patch of dirt.
A fun example would be Basrah 2 during the night or something where the insurgents are attacking the british base with mortars/RPGs/squads and the british need to use their defensive positions/mounted machine guns etc to repel the attack. If they manage to take the first base they could try for the Basrah Airfield.
I reckon it would be wicked fun fighting inside the compound in a purely defensive sense or lobbin RPGs at the base + suicide cars
I second this. More "situational" maps could be made using some of the ones we already have. I'm always a big fan of defense v. offense maps like EoD's Radio Tower map.
And maps get boring, since after some time everyone knows the weak points, where all the holes are to sneak in, what to AT mine to prevent insurgents getting into the airfield...
Operation Compton was similar, PLA attacked entrenched GB, but no one liked the map, since it was pure Heavy AT pwnage and lots of trenches...basically unbalanced

You beat me to it. Even insurgency mode on Basrah is somewhat defensive, spread out as it is. Muttrah city V2 is in the works as well which if anything like the first will be a heavy defence map. Gulf of Oman is similar.
We wouldn't want the fast moving squads of PR to dig in something similar to WWI, would we?
I thought this mod was all about moving fast and keeping a flowing battle going?
BTW:I HAVE YET TO PLAY THE MOD.......
[R-MOD]Dunehunter-Freedom? This...is...The PR Forum! *kicks LekyIRL down the well on Basrah*

Like insurgent attacks on a US/Brit base? I think that idea has been put out there already, not sure if the Devs commented on it though. Besides some car bombs do the insurgents actively attack well fortified positions IRL? Not just check points like north VCP on Basrah.

Not sure but that would be more of a special forces type map and we all know that SF only maps are not in the near future if at all.

First map that presented that type of gameplay was Al Fallujah (desert storm).
I would really like to see more these type of maps plus some minor objectives along the way...
After all, there is an entire game based on that kind of play - ETQW, just arround the corrner...
Who want to get things done will find a way and who dosen't will find an excuse.

Oil Rigs? Yes.
I prefer SocomI & II's Oil Rig.
If you are reading this dont stop, cause if you do, I'll kick you in the balls.
i've had this idea for a while, but does anyone remember the .5 basrah extract storyline?
"the palace was under heavy fire all during the night, now early in the morning US forces must extract the official to basrah int."
or something like that,
my idea would be to have 3 maps on server rotation
starts with a night map, same basrah with the brits in a fortified palace. insurgents have to cross the river and take the palace.
next map would be the extract.
then after that it would be insurgency to simulate the crackdown on insurgents after the extraction.
might be too much basrah, but it would feel more realistic, somewhat like a real military operation.
