as i have said in real life you dont take the time to put them in your pocket you throw them into your smock/combat jacket there for when you are running they dont fall out.Bob_Marley wrote:What happens to the mags is.
the RL magazines are the same size and shape as the airsoft ones (for the most part, M16 magazines are about an inch shorter than they should be on most models). If a mag falls out of your pocket while you're running around playing airsoft, it'd almost certianly fall out in a real life situation

You may have actual real life combat experience but due to your low post count my superior internet digital knowledge coupled with a smug all knowing attitude trumps you so please just stop posting things as silly as facts. [Joke]
I would also imagine that if you did happen to drop a mag or two in a combat situation you wouldn't really care? Nor would you go and complain to your CO "Sir these pockets, like suck for holding spent mags eh?

As much as I respect those who have served, and who are serving, I don't have time to deal with people who believe they are superior to others, and treat them in a condecsending manner. So, hobbs, Drop it.

Well, in all the clips I've seen of PMC training, they just hit the mag release and let the mag fall, especially with pistols. Of course, that's training, and some things in training are unnecessary. Take the FBI for example. They used to be trained to pick up their brass after shooting--got to be a conditioned response, and agents were picking up brass in the middle of a firefight and ended up getting killed.

The drill for a mag change is open pouch, take off empty mag and put into pouch, get out fresh mag, put on, do up pouch, carry on. This only takes about ten seconds, but if you need to do it faster then u put it down your jacket like bullock said.
If you loose a magazine, you get charged for it, same as any other bit of kit.

What you do with your mags depends on the situation. If we are house clearing/urban ops, we drop the mags and could care less what happens. You life or your buddies isn't worth a small piece of metal.
In a more 'relaxed' combat situation, like a OP or a typical patrol, we generally just throw them into our IBA vest (shirt tucked in), or if you are like me you had 2 drop leg holsters. One on the right side for knife/extra ammo. One on the left as a spent mag holder. It was nothing more than a heavy cloth bag with a rubber opening on top so I could shove the mags in without unzipping anything, but they couldn't bounce back out.

I dont agree. Actually in many cases in think the complete opposite (not talking about anyone in here). But that is off topic.WNxKenwayy wrote:Because, for the most part, they are.
Like Kenwayy said totally depends on the situation. I served in a unit that when on mission has no way to resupply and has to cope for a couple weeks with what they left with. So losing one mag is a big deal but sometimes the situation requires it. But generally the regulation is to shove the dropped mags anywhere you can when moving off.

All I asked for was some dropped magazines in PR and this is what I get, haha. Like I said before:
So, it fits for both parties that are saying drop the magazines/pick up the magazines after each firefight.youm0nt wrote:... the dissapearance of the dropped magazines after a few seconds/minutes simulates the picking up of the magazines after each firefight.

I think we have t o compare the average firefight in PR with the average RL firegith and the average life expectancy of a PR player with that of an RL soldier.
Firefights in PR last significantly shorter than firefights in RL and therefore greater emphasis is placed on speed, in terms of rounds layed down per minute really. IF the dropping of mags signifcantly increases the speed at which an RL soldiers can relode, i do believe the average RL soldier placed in a PR firefight would drop his mag.
The life expectancy of the average PR player is significantly shorter than that of the average RL soldiers. THerefore situations where mags much be held on to becuase there is no chance of a resuply for many days or weeks DOES NOT EXIST!
I have also viewed a video of Royal Marines engaged in a firefight in Helmand Province and in one scene it clearly showed a one RM soldier droppiing his mag in an attempt to speed up his reloding. IT was a very intensive firefight, with every one in his seciton firing and using everything from 40mmUGL to GPMGs and 51mm motors. It was quite similar to the average PR firefight in terms of intensity therefore making the dropping of mags by PR players realistic.
Those RMs almost certainly picked up there droped mags but for the remainer of the FF they probaly left them on the ground.
The picking up of mags is almost certainly impossible due to engine constraints.
However i think for the above 3 reasons it is realistic for PR players to drop there mags and becuase it adds a really exciting atmosphere i think, namely a real sence of unrgency in the palyers actions i would be willing to overlook the whole failure to pick up there mags after the firefgiht.
But as one of the DEVs said earlier, i would not expect to see this, even the DEVs would like to see it, until way after the 1.0 release (mid 2008 heeheeeee)!
