I think we can all agree it takes no skill to drive one, even fast through a city or across open terrain, and yet the principle is the same thing (and people still role them ... its a bump, don't turn and accelerate!!!).

Maybe its me, I just don't see it. A good squad has a much greater influence on the battlefield in PR than a good pilot. In reality, piloting takes a lot of skill, but in game, its kind of arcadey compared to flight sims, so I see it as far less skill to pilot one.
I agree, a good squad will always have a bigger impact. But I feel myself slightly offended when you say a jet pilot in PR has no skill!

Its rare you will find a bad vodnik driver, a slightly better one, an average one, a skilled one and an expert. There's just to little to justify those extremes.

But with a jet pilot, you can have all those degrees of skill.

Yep. Groundtroops capture flags. And one tank can wipe out a infantry squad in no time. And a jet can take out a tank in no time.

It`s a team-game with different assets and if you have a team which uses them all you need a team which encounters them all.

This is why PR is more interesting then infantry shooters...

helicopters

Post by bud01 »

I would say I am a master little bird flyer attack or trainsport. I am also very good with the blackhhawk.

But then I have been playing Battlefeild since 1942.

I used mouse and keyboard and I would say I have a gift in game with the helicopters.

But... having said all that .. I saw a pilot do this the other day and it just blew me away and I know I knew nothing.

Muta city off of carrier.

I am sitting as a passenger up front, fully loaded with special ops etc.

So we move off south west to docks, as you do, he climbs high very high, what 400 feet, no more 600 feet up, id say above moske park still heading towards dock westwards, still real high.

Guy tips the helicopter forwards and desends at the sharpest angle I have ever since yet builds up hardly any speed, I mean it must have been almost vertical downbetween the first set of buildings outside dock and the back of the dock where fokes lay the spawn point.

That was really impressive I never saw any body any thing like that before or since every one was talking about it who was in the copter, I dont know what he used to do that or how he could have kept from picking up speed it was truly awesom and if you were to watch me fly you would think it does not get any better in control and skill.

There are moves with the copter Ive still to learn, I dont have access to the game at home my pc is just a EN deskpro 1ghz with 512ram and 4mb video but just as soon as I do well on the poker again ( I normally can double up at will being advanced level poker player) im going to get a decent quad core system, I have a business need for it any way as I need to run Vmware with complex microsoft enviroments I am hopeing to get a MCSE 2003.

I am deeply found of the little bird and all helicopters.

Check this out, and guy who started the thread nice thread man helicopters are very very cool.

One thing that interests me is this.

Some pc's have great single screen GPU cards, Nvidia, ATI etc.

What about if you want dual or quad screen for ms flight simulator, seems all the quad screen cards , pny etc , they are manly for finachal not gaming, they have tops 64mb of ram on them.

Where is a quad screen 512Mb (1Gb) DX10 GPU card?

Thats what im talking about but who is that guy who keeps watching me :-)

I fly anything, but only really on kashan. Dont bother on other maps, much more fun to fight as infantry than fly above everyone else.

But Kashan has jets, so yeah they're fun. I try to follow the bombers and protect them if i'm in a fighter, or if i'm in the bomber myself i'll fly at 2000ft way above the map. Then when someone spots a vehicle i'll swoop down and get it. Saves having to deal with AA that way. I also like to do gun/missile pod runs on the enemy runway since you can turn it into crater heaven now, stops them taking off and landing so easily.

I crash helos once in a while but i can land any of them quickly without getting everyone killed i spent a good hour on SP learning how to smack a littlebird down to the ground at top speed without crashing it, but i rarely fly them anyway.

I guess i'm an infantry man at heart, I suck in tanks always manage to die somehow. Planes i only die if i get greedy on kills. Attack choppers i dont really fly since i dont actually know what maps have them anymore.
