Who are these people that I must kill?'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']We've tried reasonable discussion with these folks, but they somehow think they have both legal and moral rights to alter PR in any way they see fit. So we have a bunch of unanticipated work to do to deal with these folks' intentions. When that is dealt with we'll revist release timelines.

Pretty much the response I expected. I'm fine with waiting because, like I said, I'm going to be very busy for at least the next few weeks. About the pricks who are giving you trouble, please publicly release their server name so we can avoid it like a leper. Let them become pariahs among the PR community for acting like such children. And when the time comes for the new release, don't give them the right to run their own PR server.
Thanks luizinhuu for the find

Dammit
I hope that whatever the PR team comes up with; whether code-based, legal or a combination thereof will stop PR from being butchered by losers looking to play and propagate watered-down versions of the game.
Kudos to the Dev team. Don't give em an inch (or if u do, make sure its hard and painful).

I cannot say how dissapointing the gameplay was when those guys were around. Hopefully, they will find another mod that fits their style, soon.El_Vikingo wrote:x2![]()
In the meantime, I asked my squaddies to remember that these guys do not value or respect this community and to spread the word within the greater PR community of CDU's "perception" of PR gamers.

Go get em, eggman! The funny thing is, the feller who does most of the SSM's for CDU believes that he is a genius "moder" because he can "mod" the "mod", LOL! What ever! If changing numbers in a notepad file constitutes being a "moder" everyone would be one....lol!

Some folks have some decent ideas on server mods. So they would be "non PROS" servers. The TG guys fall into that category. Great guys, great server, some minor mods that we are generally OK with.
Some folks have some awful ideas on server mods. So they would be in violation of our upcoming licence agreement. We dont want PR to play like vBF2 with deadlier weapons.. we want it to play like PR.
After the v0.5 release I couldn't even recognize the game when I played on the modded servers. And I couldn't even figure out how to evaluate feedback from players because the mod was so heavily butchered by some admins that it became server specific feedback and nobody remembers what server they encountered an issue on.
The "retort" from these folks is that if their servers were full, then their changes must be good and, as a result, good for the mod. And they then think that somehow they have a legal right to use that as a basis for modifications to software they are not the owners of.
For me their rationale was antithetical to how we have tried to incrementally build a community. Each release adds a few new bells and whistles and another crack at appealing to a broader audience of hardcore tactical gamers.
We're typically trying to inch our way to being the ultimate multiplayer tactical combined arms experience. Dumbing it down to appeal to a more mainstream type of player is a major step backwards against what has been a continual, intentional and laborious effort to keep moving PR away from the gamey origins of BF2 and more into the realm of "legacy" tactical games like Infiltration, Flashpoint, JO, etc, etc.
We want to keep some sensibilities and discretion on the part of the PR Dev team so we have a means of dealing with people who lack those acuities.
Comically these folks think it is their right to modify the software. Under no stretch of any imagination will we permit people to think they can modify PR without our permission and make those modifications available to the public in the form of a publicly accessible server. Our licence agreement will permit us to prevent unauthorized use of the software by any "reasonable and lawful" means necessary.

I don't recall ever claiming to be a genius modder. The things I have done in the past are so easy a monkey could do it. Notepad editing stuff is very easy. However I will no longer be modifying PR's content. We will still run an 0.6 server though and the gameplay will be different. Bring on the hate, I am used to it from you all by now.DVB-PARAMEDIC.CA wrote: Go get em, eggman!
