There's plenty of times where a guys in a bunker or sticking his head over a ridge where a medic has plenty of time to tend their wounds.

maybe slot should be named "handle" instead of "prod" and be given unlimited "ammo"

Yes it would look better if you threw a field dressing at him but since the medic has to keep those for himself then it would be better with a new object.

Why not have a "kick them in the nuts" weapon for the medics, where the injured is stuck in the terrain and the medic is like "I don't have time for this!" kicks him the nuts and make the guy clinch up.
On a more serious note yes this is a good idea as I'm sick of wasting a med patch just to get a guy out of terrain.
