While interior buildings for every building might be nice, it would most certainly cause a lot of lag or so I heard they do. Though it would be cool to go inside the hotels and defend a flag or important area to prevent enemies from coming through. Destructible hotels would be awesome too. That would be awesome, just gotta keep wishing...

Maybe they answered this question many times before or open buildings need in BF2 to much performance.

Point of Existence is modeling a lot of city structures for their next release. They even have one with an indoor swimming pool. If I'm not mistaken it is for their Chernobyl map.

I think he means just pools of water, not exactly a swimming pool. I'm guessing the pools of water would be inside a power plant if he's talking about Chernobyl...

If two traditional factions are fighting each other GB vs. PLA/USA v. MEC i really dont care about the buildings, however if only one map gets buildings like this it needs to be an insurgent map, i.e. a large enterable building in jabal would just be a waste of memory, where as in al basrah where a challenger rolls down the street and 6 little heads pop out from inside a hotel and sweep the streets with gunfire it's a real strategic asset, and contributes to the gameplay.
i'm just saying they need to be placed where they will be used, not just in kashan where a tanker will drive by it and say, "OH CUTE! a building with an interior!".
thats my two cents.

I do for one, & so do those winking devs a few posts up :D I made some big (bigger than those examples you posted) fully-enterable multistorey buildngs recently that should make an appearance in 0.7, along with other new stuff to extend the mec city statics. They cut down on server lag by having the floors as stacked clones (several variants that can be mixed together) so you're not calculating collisions for the whole structure, plus all that instanced geometry helps too. Irontaxi is also making some great statics so you've got a lot of new stuff to look forwards to...
