[Question] Rotating groups of statics?

Post by OkitaMakoto »

Searched, didnt find it.

How do you rotate a group of statics... say... an airport and have the airport look how it did before rotating?

When i rotate them all selected, it rotates each object in its own place. therefore everything is where it was, but rotated... and looks ridiculous and not what i want.

So, how do you gorup objects to be rotated... or is that even possible.

I tried to make an airport at a 30 degree angle, but nothing lined up, and with grid snap, they dont line up because the snapping zones are not rotated with the objects, therefore, corners dont line up.... make sense?

help?

its a hard one :p

there are afew methods you can use, you can text edit the .con files but you need to spend ages doing calculations etc of where the new object is going to be, or you can do it the easy way and place the objects at the degs you want from the start.

also you can use the "stamp and align" tool to speed things up abit :)

Hmm... but how do I get them aligned? just...try hard?

you know what I mean though, right? how once they rotate off of the 0/90/180/270 degrees, you cant use the snap to grid...

So, rotate them all, and just try really hard to get them as aligned as I can?

**edit**
forgot to say thanks, so... thanks!

there is afew ways you can do this.

1, snap them all to grid, then rotate all the slected objects using w/e objects rotaion pivot by just selecting that object last (or if you select them with a selection box, unselect that object then reselect it to use it as the pivot), then rotate all the objects in 1, thou rotating them most of the time will offset some of the objects, which then you will have to go around tweaking by hand.

2. put everything down, 1 by 1 by hand at the correct rotation, each object you do you check and get it 100% right before moving onto the next (the best for quality control, but also takes the most time)

3, forget the rotation and work with the grid.

Thats strange, anytime I select multiple objects they always rotate around a single anchor, not multiple ones within each object :/

What exactly does that mean? lol
