Can we get a down loadable guide soon?
I've been reading guides all over the net , but what would be REALLY REALLY nice would be an official guide that could be down loaded , printed and kept handy for reference.
Thank You.
Thank You.

The wiki is printable... but granted, people aren't necessairly keen on wading through a wiki and printing every page.
If people are interested this is something I might be willing to take on under the [R-PUB] guise - it'd mostly be collating the wiki, maybe getting a few more sections into it and editing it into a consistent style and format.
Lemme know- either here or via private message/email if there's a demand for this?

And about translations???
Hey... i try to put in contact with the wiki-team two times (version 0.5 and 0.6) to translate wiki to spanish and get no response...
Perhaps this will be a good chance to get it???
I'll try to make the first downloadable PR guide in spanish...

The idea wouldn't be to have a complete changelog of the differences in the game. It'd be to have a brief section on each of the roles- SM, SL, CM, and one for each of the types of vehicles. Maybe some stuff in there on good communication (which we already have in the Wiki), and basically stuff like that.
I've got the capability to create .pdfs (legally, too I might add), so basically it'd be a collation of all the best of the guide/tutorial information out there, in a clear format and stylistically edited so each section read in the same manner. Obviously it'd be version-dependant (so we'd be looking at writing for 0.6 currently).

I already have a plan for this kind of thing once 0.6 comes out, but instead of written guides, they'd be video guides.

The idea involves getting these volunteers into a squad that's just us on a passworded server, and I'll use them as well as my own perspective to FRAPS a kind of introductory walkthrough video, complete with narration, text overlays, whatever's needed.
I want to spend a minute or two on each individual kit, how it functions and how to use it properly (including all the request kits and how to request them) as well as basic vehicular, armour and aerial usage. It'll cover all the basic gameplay mechanics that have changed from vBF2, maybe even a minute describing the new maps and game modes.
Once it's done the whole thing will be put up on YouTube/Google Video/Filefront and available to the entire PR community...The idea is to make it kind of similar to the PR Player Guide video, but with actual live footage of how things work and voice walkthroughs. I'd love it to be used in conjunction with the PR Guide Wiki, and I think it would be a great resource due to the sheer amount of information that can be conveyed through video and audio....

I like the idea of a simple , introductory guide that can be printed.ThePhotoshop wrote:I already have a plan for this kind of thing once 0.6 comes out, but instead of written guides, they'd be video guides.
All it would have to do is outline the various classes and their roles.
Describe weapons and their abilities.
Any other odds and ends that would make it easier for a rank beginner to get started and understand the game.
There are already numerous "training" videos and web sites but there is a ton of information in them and unless you make copious notes , once you've watched / read them , a lot of the information they supplied is gone.
For example , it took me a while to figure out what the little green numbered dots on the map were for. A BASIC game play item but I never did read in any article about what they were supposed to represent.
Sure , once you know it's quit obvious , but to a beginner , the first few times are a mass of confusion and it's frustrating when , for example , you join a squad and hear "Beer spawn on 2 as AA".
What's AA? What's "2"?(yea - I know now but didn't then).
These are the basic types of items that should be in a guide to at least help a beginner get started.
I'd have a go at it myself but I'm still a rank , confused beginner , and have only played .5 a few times (don't have .6 yet.) so don't feel qualified to undertake such a thing.
Or,am I making a mountain out of a mole hill and taking the game too seriously.
Maybe I should just hop on , ask a few questions as needed and be damned the cost in material and manpower.

Hence my post elsewhere (PUB boards) around soliciting articles on specific areas for the wiki and using them for any downloadable effort'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']ty for the guide efforts Gents!
I think we should make sure the v0.6 wiki content is up to date and the wiki cleaned up before we start killing trees![]()
