Well, the optimum ping would be 100, IIRC, due to BF2's strange and irrational hitbox messing anti-lag coding.

I think that ping as a medium impact on the gameplay.
I live in Canada and will often play on UK servers as there's not many
frequented North Americain servers. I dont see much difference with a ping around110/140.
The real problem is much more about how the server itself perform.
Right now I see that most busy servers run on 64 players and thats
the real problem.
BFproduct always had performance problems with 64 and in fact the only reason why there is 64 players possibility is that they promise it (part of there markething politics).
64 server: always experience problems after a while,
makes new players think that its the mod that brings lagg...
prevent from finding ''hackers'' as your never sure if its the server
or the hacks that cause problems. Limit the number of busy servers:
I would personnaly prefer to see twice the number of 32 istead of 1/2
of 64. And i think that the teamplay is usualy more present on smaller
servers then on big 64 public...
So ping isnt that much of a problem when you play on 32/40 players servers.
Imho

along with all those network parameter tweaks to "fix" it...

I usually like 50-64 servers, because theres always something, you can do, without being noticed.
On a small 20 server, you cant really go around and sabotage the enemy main, like you can in huge servers, because everyone else is occupied
Its also good, because you will always find something to shoot, rather than small servers, where its all needle in a hay stack...
Well, thats my opinion...

Anything below 50ms could be considered very good in PR. During tournament battles i'm at a steady 180-200ms, which is acceptable but far from optimal. As long as pings are within 200ms range, i see no real disadvantage for me. PR reward those who think ahead and choose when and where to commit. Some games/netcodes, allow you to strictly rely on lightning quick reactions and accurate mouse handling to have an edge. In those type of games, update-rates and responsiveness in all parts of your system is very important.
