Building Main Base
OK. before anyone stars flaming and saying search for threads or "heres a thread, they talk about it here" I wanted to refreash the topic (even though i did search and couldnt find anything). This idea i believe could be really good in a future release and give the game a complety new and exciting originality to each round.
Some people say that the game with the new commander assets gives the game a sim city feeling, but no. the game is more like age of empires now (age of reality. lol.) What would make for an interesting map would be either side being the attacking so as no side has a main on a building to defend. they are going for 3 or 4 flags (not to many as they might steel the thunder of what really could be fun.)
each side spawns in on the adge of the map with a support truck, some APCs, transport vehicles and tank. before the game starts the commander is chosen for a longer time so that a higher ranking person can go commander ( this stops any fools that ruin the game.) then everyone heads of in a convoy to a location the commander chooses. the map needs to be created in a way that there are multiple places on each side that would be good for defending because once the commander finds a good spot he starts building. he builds bunkers, sandbag walls, wire, tents and anything else that would help even camo tents to hide the base if need be. he will also have to designate positions for vehicle spawn. maybe a large sandbag square. (helecopters would make things tricky) after a 20 minute limit runs out or the commander uses up his limit on items the game really starts and the commander can no longer change anything close to his main. he still will be able to make another firbase somewhere else but thats it. this would bring a whole new experience to the enemy being hidden and if you find enemy base you could sabotage these. end when you get to taking the temporary base out it becomes destructable and you can take them out.
so what do you think. please give me your opinion and feel free to suggest anything to make this sound better then what it is.

I actually really like this Idea - but possibly more for a new game mode ?
having a Choice right from the start as where to set up your teams Main base would be great, commanders would be looking for somewhere the enemy wont know where it is - or a place that has the best possible tactical advantage. would make recon missions much more important for each team too.
you could make it If a team lost its main asset ( such as a HQ Building or something ) the game would be won, a bit like the Titan Mode on BF2142 ?
could be a whole new game mode in itself

hmmmm .. heheh well, it could be like reality, only speeded up in the sense troops could make buildings with 300 twists of the wrench, and 500 swipes with a spade ...'[BF2 wrote:Bonsai']Reality?

Not sure about this one. I like the whole idea about building stuff, but it's pretty unrealistic to build up an entire base at the beginning of a round and then go fight each other..
I think building stuff is wonderful and may even be expanded, but it needs way more thought of how to do this and what to build. Entire bases...... no way, they're not built just like that. However, it adds to being dynamic, but I say "no" to this suggestion as it is now.

Damn it! I like it.... How odd.
There would be a LOT of bugs with this style of gameplay I imagine. How would you make it so that once a commander starts building his base in one zone he can't build different structures somewhere else?
As for starting out with a tank or two..... negative. You could easily avoid the opposing tanks and walk into a base which is being built and shell the sh*t out of it. Unless, one of two things happened:-
You don't start out with tanks. Instead you have to "buy" them from a factory. You get money by destroying enemy armour (more money depending on the value of the target. E.G. Fighter jet = Big moolah). You can also control points (flags) which bring in a steady income (much like COH).
Commander points for arty/UAV/supply drops could be built up overtime.
Or number two, make it so that you can't attack (or do damage to the enemy for at least 'X' minutes.) Obviously this has problems with it, such as people camping until the time's up and then rushing them with the two tanks.

But ... UK / US Forces didnt conquer Basrah in a day IRL, but you can do that on PR in an hour ........... i dont think thats realistic either lol
I think when the map sizes get upped a bit, it'd be a great addition.
Ok so maybe a HUGE 5 storey HQ building isnt the way to go, But what if it was more like a Command Tent / even a command bunker to make it more realistic.
be able to place Medic tents and other assets nearby, build defences / sandbags / razor wire within 100 m of the main tent etc ... i think it could be a really good gamemode.
