Wire/fence cutters

Post by Symplify »

I dunno if this has ever been brought up before, seeing as I'm relatively new and don't troll the forums, but is it possible to put wire cutters in the game? For instance, the UK, US and MEC Spec ops and/or engineers have a set of wire cutters. With these they can go up to an intact bit of fence, stand and click LMB for a moment and then the fence breaks open. You could use the cut fence model that is already in-game for that.

I had the idea when me'n a squad where running around a fence, looking for a way in. It occurred to me that at least one guy in a squad could realistically carry wire cutters.

Yeah maybe like 5 swipes from a knife will break down the razor wire. Something that takes a little bit to do though...maybe you have to be standing or whatever.

Vehicles like tanks, apc's and medium support vehicles like Hummers should be able to destroy them, not only drive trough them imo.

They do destroy them by ramming them and driving over

I think blasting apart wire covered in razors is a bad plan to begin with.

You should be able to lift it up with your bare hands and not bleed, Rambo style  In fact we should get a map where one army is Rambo and only Rambo and he has to fight 63 people although to make it fair the other team gets tanks choppers etc and Rambo only gets his bow, actually that'd be a bit unbalanced, he just gets his knife... seriously though wire cutters would be useful, it's annoying having to run around fences :x

Not true, we used to always use a shaped c4 charge to blow open triple strand wire when I was in the Army. It's SOP.

The M-9 bayonet and scabbard in the Army are designed to be assembled together to make a set of wire cutters. They actually work better than true wire cutters because the knife is much denser metal. Unfortunately it makes the knife near impossible to sharpen.

Use the knife for the wire cutter. The sheath hads a knob on the end which you insert the blade for a wire cutter.

i was talking about in game, theres a explosive device which works as a "Cutter" rather then a big explosion.. they use those when they take down old Bridges for an example
