Yea, it's improbable and inpractical, to a degree. Setting up your bipod is something you do when you are entrenched and plan to stick around for a long time. This, of course, is not something you should be doing (you should keep moving forward, supporting your squad.. even with the sniper class).
Day of Defeat (i think it was DOD, not sure) had problems with this. They would have to create different areas of the level that allowed bipod deployment. For example, if you wanted to deploy your bipod on a window ledge, they would create a "zone" that says "yes, you can deploy the bipod here". The problem with that was it was WAY too time consuming to go through a level and setup these little zones, so certain areas that seemed like a good place for bipod deployment didn't work.
Even if the BF2 allowed something like this, it still wouldn't work all the way becuase you would need to make sure that the bipod mode limits your visiblity and keeps you immobile.
I still don't know enough a bout the possibilities of the BF2 engine though, so I can't say much excep it's improbable.

I think it's a pretty good idea actually. Perhaps snipers could acheive far greater accuracy by being forced to deploy a bipod. It could be a good method to stop the current "dive and shoot" tactics often used by snipers and instead reward the snipers who spend the time and thought required to move unobserved into a good position.

Bipods arent really needed as they are easily simulated with delay of accuracy. Currently it doesnt take long for the sniper to "focus" when he flips up the scope. Like 0.5 seconds. What if it took a full 5 seconds to achieve pinpoint accuracy? And of course every sideways movement increase the spread just a tad (BF2 support this just like BF1942 and BFV did, its just that none of the games have ever used it).
There's your bipod.

Listen mate If your a Patcient Sniper or thats willing to wait for a nice kill to come along into your cross hairs at a certian angle of a building etc and you wanna sit there and kill a target 1 shot kill looking through a crack of a broken roof top if its urban enviorment your gonna need that Bipod.
Also most Snipers out there wouldnt mind a Bipod, such as myself I can garentee you that.

This is what I mean. I believe it should take a sniper 5 secs or more to get perfect accuracy but if he does, then you're a goner. A simulated bi-pod is as good as an animated one from the 1st persons POV IMO.dawdler wrote:Currently it doesnt take long for the sniper to "focus" when he flips up the scope. Like 0.5 seconds.
