Proving grounds

Dev's if proving grounds is supposed to be a training map then why cant it have all the kits from all the factions? And since people play it by themselves it would make sense to have pilot/crewman/ etc kits as pick ups. I use proving grounds to train my aim and it sucks having to wait for another person in order to get any kits. Please dev's if you can make it so that we can have all the kits we want that would be nice.

it's just a map we use to spawn and test vehicles on, never really intended for much more than that and never intended for actual release.

we'll try and put together a sort of training / testing / learning map for a future release.

I know but since only 2 servers i know of play it and there always empty it sucks having no way to use any of the vehicles. Also the helis are just tempting me!

it crashes clients in multiplayer, not meant for anything but Devs and Testers checking vehicles out in a LAN server.

You can change the Init.con to have USMC and PLA. The PLA can use all MEC vehicles but MEC can't use all PLA vehicles (I think). Same with USMC, they can use all the British vehicles but British can't use USMC vehicles.

Hey, dude, I use that map and use vehicles.

Create a local game. Join a team. Make a squad, goto the flags and request a kit. Pilot is available and I think engineers can drive tanks etc, so you're covered.

Check out the SP forums. There is also a sticky somewhere telling you the server commands to get around needing more players etc. It's title is something to do with learning to fly or practice flying. You need to start a local game and add the map, enter the command and you have free reign to do what you want.

Don't get too upset. As eggman said there are some plans to provide a map that pubbies can use for training, but at the moment there is nothing we can do to turn Proving Grounds into the map you want it to be.

to get pilots kits when you're alone on a local game open the console and type : sv.NumPlayersNeededtoStart 1 or just type sv and double tab and all the command lines starting with sv will show up.

I did what you said and i can get my pilot kit now but the planes wont move and i still cant get any other kit.

Hey David , check out this thread, and head down to number three:

Once you do that head to
mods\pr_sp\python\game\realityconfig.py' , here, you can change up the kit request system to fit your needs.

NOTE: I haven't played PR in about a month, so I'm not to sure how well this will work out, but that's the whole point of creating a seperate mod. Hope this helps!

"In the above mentioned folder there is a file called "realityconfig_test.py". BACKUP THE ORIGINAL "realityconfig.py" FIRST and than change the "realityconfig_test.py" to "realityconfig.py".
This test config will change many things. It will allow you to request any kit you want (sniper, marksman, heavy AT etc). You wont have to wait 3 mins between requesting kits, you will respawn quickly and much more."
Got this from the PR section of the BF2s forums... This does work, I've been doing it since 0.5...
