Is the addon even out yet? Great to know THEY know it's broken before it's even in the shops.

It's out.

Is it broken? Yes it is. But then what do you expect from EA. BF2 was shit, why should the Special Needs, sorry Special Forces add on be any different.

It isn't out in the UK yet. Maybe the government banned it under the new "No Shit Poorly Rsearched and Produced Games Allowed Act". God I wish that was real! That'd remove EA from the UK market over night, and to a lesser extent, Ubi (PC games wise, they don't seem to like/care about PC).

they must be doing something right if people keep eating this stuff up. they are a business, they try to please as many people as they can. those people just dont include players who want more realism. at least they put out mod tools.

You mean they don't have one yet. WOW!
Do you need this to play regular BF2?

Nah, the only thing they do right is advertise it to the point of brainwashing. They aim for the market of idiots who don't know better who just look at it and go "OMG SAS! L337!11oneoneone!".

Well, I'm going to wait on this one.

I don't like the idea of SF owners being able to use SF specific weapons on regular games of BF2 while non-SF owners cannot. The only way to prevent it seems to be to continue to run the game on 1.03

Not only that, but they didnt mention a single thing that they fixed for BF2, yet they say, "ALL Battlefield 2 owners should install it."...Hell, explain to me WHY first and then MAYBE, just maybe I'll THINK about it...This just goes to show you how much they pay attention to thier community.

I say screw em, we dont need thier updates.

280MB...It better suck me and fukk me!

Here's something I just found.
I'm not sure if anyone knows, but in vanilla BF2 1.12 you can edit the files to give yourself the SF weapons (well at least the ones people can use against you) in singleplayer/lan games.

See what 5 mins of editing can do:

At least you get some free toys to massacre bots with...
Perhaps a change to PR where all these unlocks are enabled and the release of a custom PR browser (we probably lose 30% of the people who try PR anyway at the moment as they can't get the BF2 browser to show servers properly) in the next version would work?

Someone please tell me why I have to download a 280MB patch to play this online? I thought the patch was included with this game or am I delirious?

EA would ban the mod. Seriously, they wouldnt allow that... I suggest getting more modellers and copy the weapon right off though ;)

I guess that means if you dont have the '****' SF costly *stab* *stab* mumble _mod_ installed you can still pick up the new weapons in a normal bf2 server from there dead bodys if anyone still plays normal bf2...

Are you sure? It is content they released with a patch for BF2. It's not like they are being stolen from SF. Modders are ok to alter other content they release so I fail to see what difference it would make.

EDIT - I just asked about this on the BF2 Editor Forums so hopefully I'll get some clarification soon. FYI, there is no reference to PR in the post or with my profile there.

I believe this is the case but I no longer play normal BF2.

Aye, but it does make a difference. You cant access SF weapons without SF in the game. That makes them, even if they are in the patch, part of the expansion.

Servers that unlock all regular BF2 weapons get banned from the server list if EA notice them. A mod using weapons you need to pay for they will notice.

But as I said you can just make a new model, alter the code a tad and you have yourself a mod weapon. EA cant complain about you using the code features in the patch.

The thing is they are in the vanilla game now. Vanilla players can pick them up and use them, they just can't spawn with them. It's a very blury line IMO. I'm very interested to hear the response from EA and the community on their editor forums.
