Omaha Beach, 2012? Suggestion

Post by killmachines »

You guys have already made plenty of bunkers, great statics, and terrain, so mabye making an Omaha Beach in the future wouldnt be so hard? But I just thought it would be cool to have it, because, who doesnt love that map? In world war 2 games, everyone looks for that map to play in the game, and having it in PR would be the icing on the cake :D

We don't have Germans yet, so mabye it could be...

Axis: Russians (they could have overran Germany and want more land)
or
Axis: China (Teamed up with France and are helping defend theyre homeland)

Allies: USA (Want to reclaim land for further discovery of German defenses in WW2)
or
Allies: Britain (Revenge for recent terrorist attacks in theyre homeland)

**Just something to think about, comments please

In a Surprise move, the PLA have deployed a battalion to northern France.

Oh, and Omaha was was a poorly coordinated screw up, I think it would be rather better to do a beach landing reminicent of those at Utah, Sword, Juno and Gold.

Anyway, there is, IIRC, a beach assault map in the works... :o

I have, but the map is so big, and most players attacking get so completely spread out it doesnt give nearly the same effect as landing on a beach with machine gun fire popping, just saying =/

the real life beach landings was over a huge stretch of coast, not one tiny little bay with 2 headlands either side like in BF1942 :p

It was if this is an Omaha beach =P

Now if you wanted to add all the other landings, you got a 20KM map in the works lol

Thats 'cos I stole it (well, paraphrased) from someone else from the last time this idea came up :p

Gulf of Oman is pretty much the modern day "beach assault" I guess.
Operation Barracuda is in the works. Looks like it's going to be a beach assault...
Anyway, Omaha Beach...? The faction that's defending the beach won't even have a chance to get inside the bunkers if the opposing faction has an APC firing up HEAT rounds in any of the bunkers...

Yeah beach landings of the day where "Absolutely no other option" style of warfare. Today, we generally use helo-insertion, or stage from friendly zones. In 1944-1945, there where no "Friendly zones" to stage from when we did amphibious assaults.

yes, and even then the plan was to bomb the living shit out of the germans before attacking, but the bombers and naval artillery kinda missed by a few miles.

Today the same thing would be done if a massive beach assault was done, a lot of bombing. And with todays weapons I doubt there wouldn't be much left of the bunkers and other defences after the bombing.

I would suggest you try out the FH 1942 version of Omaha. It is intense but more spread out then COD's and other attempts at it. More realistic attempt of the map. They also have a nice gold beach map as well.

To me a modern day Omaha is just a big stretch. In the Iraq war ver. 1 by Bush ver. 1 they pulled a fast one in Kuwait. They had a big force appear to be storming in from the ocean and then sucker punched them from Suadi Arabia. I'm sure some one here knows much more about this then I do, Im just trying to show a relivant event for comparison (thats my problem, I know a little about allot of things  )
