Would it be possible for commanders to deplow small minefields?? He could deploy them as they are above ground, but then they would have the option to be "dug in" (suggested many times elsewhere) by engineers?
Also, can the artillery in PR be made so it comes from "offmap" so you get the same artillery support but not from the big guns sticking out of the ground. If not could it be possible for the commander to place 1 or 2 perminantly destroyable guns as his commander options that would have to be "set up" by engis? These could be operated by the already in place artillery request system. (possible??)
cheers

minefield: get a squad of 4 engineers, within 3 minutes you can have 32 landmines placed....
no need for the commander to have this option when its already avaliable to players... just not many players realize this can be done...
vbf2 artillery is not used much in PR anymore, expect something entirely different eventually to replace it (mortars eventually, and who knows what else)

There is a limit, but I think it counts for every sole engineer, i.e. every engineer can put down x mines max, so with enough engies, you can make some area a hell to pass through for armor.Greenie Beanie wrote:but the mines disappear when the engineers die or place too many, eh?
And they disappear...dunno, something like 60 second after the engineer died.
So when those engies watch their backs (or get it watched) you can make a veritable mine field.

Dont engies only get one mine each ? i've been having difficulty with engineers as i can never seem to re-arm quick enough to cause an impact on the enemy ...'[R-DEV wrote:fuzzhead']minefield: get a squad of 4 engineers, within 3 minutes you can have 32 landmines placed....

Max of 8 mines per engineer, IIRC. And they don't disappear when you die.Greenie Beanie wrote:but the mines disappear when the engineers die or place too many, eh?
If you've got a heavy jeep or commander truck near by you can lay down a dense minefield pretty quickly. Then you can get the squad marksman to shoot the enemy engineers when they come to defuse them
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

1 engineer can place very effective mine field too if he can resupply from something, the point when placing mines is that you have to think like you would be that vehicle driver whos gonna drive towards your minefield, you gotta think "at what point he can possibly spot my mines". If you put your mines on flat area, he will spot em from far away, if you put your mines on a spot where the vehicle is on top of hill and about to start driving downhill where your mines are, he cant see the mines before 2-3 metres from em and thats too late for him.
Another good thing is to put mines into shadowy spot, not there where sun is shining.
How ever always its not possible to place mines anywhere else but on flat road, then you need C4 or another mine to get the enemy vehicle into your trap.
Like when APC sees a mine middle of road, he dodges it and goes off road, however, thats where you have your 2nd mine hidden in the grass, or a C4 placed so that the APC is dodgin your mine, and goes pretty close to your C4, you can blow up the C4 it wont destroy the APC, but the explosion might throw the APC 0.5-1 metres towards the mine and BOOM
Its all about your skill to see things as the enemy sees em.

Just checked it.bigmoose332 wrote:That was true as of .5 for 100% sure.
Not sure about .6 though.

'Tis true. As of v0.607.
