cap civi and u get.......

Post by LtSoucy »

Ok i was thinking after u knife a civi u should bealbe to see-
the locations of Insrgents
See there ammo dumps
and there cars and trucks.
all ofr 1 minute. It would maybe stoping people from killinbg the civis because teh ycould pwn 6 insrgents and not just 1 civi. So what do u think?

Doesn't sound too compelling. Shooting civilians has quite some penalties associated with it and people will learn fast that it does not pay to do so in most cases. On the other hand people should not make arresting civilians their top priority.

With your suggestions implemented everyone would try and cap the civilians and no one who wants his team to win would consider playing a civilian since if he would be captured the allies basically knew all the places they need to go and all the friendlies.

I'm not going into the realism impact of it but it would not be good either.

So from my POV: NO

Knifing civvies already gives you plenty of intel points, allowing you to find caches that much more easily. Giving you locations of ALL ammo dumps and ALL insurgents would be far too overpowered, and would make playing a civilian extremely difficult as even more people would be chasing you all the time.

In Insurgency gamemode, arresting civilians gives you 8 intel points for your team. When the total reaches 30 intel points, you get a close location of one of their weapons caches.

Killing an insurgent just gives you 1 intel point, so you can see how valuable capturing a civ is. ;)

If you kill a civ you lose 3 intel points. So be careful.

Also when you arrest a civilian, your team gains 10 tickets.

I second the NO.

Your post makes no sense. People already shouldn't be killing civilians with all the penalties associated with it: spawn times, tickets, points...

edit:
yeah, db and daranz posted while I was writing this

IMO, you should only get IP, if you actually picked up the Insurgents kit, right now, Apaches and IFVs just slaughter them and pad up IP, makes no sense. How do you get intel from a pile of guts?

I thought it was 7 intel points? That's what it said in Spearhead's downloadable guide and I can trust that info.

No from me too. Still like the idea of role play though, when civvies sell info to brits and sometimes lead them to ambushes etc...

For RC1 it was seven and I can not see anyone telling it changed... so I assume it is 7 still. But maybe I got things wrong. It MAY be that you get the 7 for the civilian + 1 for insurgent killed = 8

Somone please confirm this. I didn't dig too deep into the code.

a depth charge? water wings? jaws?

On a serious note, civvis tend to spout out info a lot easier than those who choose to die no matter what as a martyr. Knifing them is a placeholder for placing them under arrest.

When you 'decrease the population of insurgants' (being politically correct :) ), friendly forces are less likely to encounter resistance, therefore can move easier and faster in an area. This makes it easier to search etc, which is why you get 1 intel point for killing an INS combatant.

Civvies in water can't throw rocks at you. Just ignore them.

Shoot them in the arm, they'll come out of the water for a bandage, then stab 'em in the face, that's how they do it in RL
