idea for CAS
has anyone on this forum ever played Jane's USAF or Jane's F/A-18? If so, you will more than likely know what im talking about
How about make it where Jet aircraft will be fitted with a FLIR targeting pod, and level auto pilot(auto pilot that levels off your airplane). this is a system that points a laser at a target, and the laser actually stays where you point it. dont ask me how it works, but im guessing an inertial guidence system.
anyways, you can just stay flying steady and point your laser at a target and a GBU-12 (MK82 fitted with PAVEWAY guidence system) will automatically find where your laser is pointing, and BOOM. whatever you pointed your laser at is dead

mavericks wouldn't really work in pr. Though then again I don't know if anything except unguided bombs would work, and even then we probably should just have ccip mode. And sure there is probably some way of getting them to work, but I'm talking about making them work in a realistic way. And now that I think about it I don't think you can even make a realistic ccip mode, but I think that you could get close enough. Just make it so that the bombs release when the fire button is pressed, instead of the computer automatically releasing the bombs at the right spot.

I don't care so much about graphics. Overall the game just doesn't feel good. Mostly because a) I didn't find it THAT realistic and b) you can't use any of the buttons in the cockpit, therefore you will have to remember how to do everything with the keyboard. Not only is that a pain in the *** and makes it harder to learn, it is another step away from realism.HellDuke wrote: It doesn't have great ground graphics but then again unless you are performing extreme CAS you're high in the sky and overal it's ignorant to say it's uber **** since there is no better. Unless you've played withouth a joystic and on low graphics![]()
Give Falcon 4.0: AF a shot, probably the most realistic simulator there is. (you might aswell call it a simulator instead of a game) You can only fly the f-16, but that is why it is so good, they actually used all the time to make one aircraft as realistic as possible. Seriously, a flight sim doesn't get any better.

If you only played an unpatched version of lomac then I can understand why you think it sucks. Ubisoft forced Eagle Dynamics to release it before it was ready. Which is why they are no longer a publisher for ED. Try playing the Flaming Cliffs add-on by ED. You will be surprised how good it is. And on a side note. If it sucked so bad why would the US ANG select ED to make there A-10 simulator software? I can't wait for Black Shark to come out.

I just don't have the patience to learn how to put my master arm on, switch to A-G mode, select the bombs I want, switch it to ccip mode, set the bomb release pulses to 6, set the bombs to drop in pairs and to set the distance between each of those bomb pairs to 130 feet by using the keyboard.HellDuke wrote:Youp... I agree with El_Vikingo there.
The fact that you can't use the butons in the cockpit doesn't realy make it bad since you need so few buttons anyway and those that you use are easy to remember. For egzample: scan modes selected like weapons, and you basicaly put out the layout on your joystic by yourself. My joystic contains: Fire, Rocket fire, lockon, switch weapon, and scan zone ajdustment (the little box in the radar screen that moves for a long range lock on), and of course as most joystics do - pitch-roll and thrust.
Just seems like way too much hassle. And yes, I do that everytime when bombing. (of course the amount of release pulses and if I use pairs or single bombs and the distance between the bombs is different depending on target, and the bombing mode depending on weather conditions and air defences) But anyway I configure all those things every time I go on a bombing mission.
edit: Not being able to use the buttons might not mean that much to you, and I can understand if people want to play a game instead of a simulator, but to me being able to actually use almost every single button in the cockpit just makes the game feel so much more realistic.
Then add all the different radar functions, etc and you really have to write the stuff down to know how to do it.
You might need a few buttons to keep the aircraft in the air, but to use it effectively you do need to use a lot of different things.
and yes, I've only played the unpatched version. I just think the game doesn't have anything to offer that falcon 4.0 AF doesn't have, except the ability to control different aircraft, which I really don't find that important.
