Wait until the official 0.6 release, "it's raining smacktards!" More publicity means more new players, a small percentage or good, a large percentage just don't like the PR style of play. If the Devs can get paid the $3000 in exchange for a few smacktards it's a fair trade.Nimble wrote:I've voted, but I hate to think that this will make PR even MORE popular and attract more smacktards.![]()

The gap's closing- if you've NOT voted already, go do so!
Oh, and if "smacktards" bother you- EDUCATE them instead of slating them. Just because people are used to playing a certain way, it doesn't mean they can't learn a new way if people are understanding and supportive. Then, not only do you have to suffer with FEWER smacktards but you also have MORE good players to play with!

A smacktard is a dude who doesn't want anyones help, never bothers to read the guide and probably doesn't even care about how the game should be played.
They are lonewolfs and run around the map alone looking for kills, probably the only reason they play the mod is because it's got some new shiny vehicles.
What you are talking about is a normal newbie, a guy who just started to play the game. While these kind of people can be annoying sometimes, it's ok since they want to learn. They ask questions if they don't know how something works, hell, they might even join a voip squad and learn from the vets.
After a while most of these probably become good players.

Smacktards are going to suffer with the 0.6. Be a smacktard = die.

Yeah I can't wait for smacktards....in .5 they were quasi-rewarded for lonewolfing being that it was effective esp in CQB. BUT NOW....now way, smacktard=bait. They will die so easily...its like now in .6 squading up and staying together is what everyone WANTS to do, there is no other way now...squad up or die basically. Esp when most others are squading...I think with this natural education that people will really be sticking together...I RARELY ever see a lonewolf anymore...if it is, then he is usually a sniper.

That's still only 4,500. Where does the rest go? Do they just keep cutting it in half until it's down to 1 dollar?'[R-PUB wrote:Masaq']Whilst the Gameflood page suggests it's a USD25,000 grand prize, it's actually 25k in TOTAL prize money. The actual winnings for the team, if they go on to win, are $3,000. Second place is $1k, third is $500. Which is still a considerable sum of money but nothing like the massive surplus that'd be available were the team to win 25 grand lol.
With server costs of around $150 per month, the prize would be swallowed up in well under two years.
Also, how did that CoH map get 800 points when it has 6 votes?

Thats 4,500 for the FPS mod category, then theres another 4,500 for the RTS, and the RPG. Then add in the prizes for maps, mini-mods, etc.Leo wrote:That's still only 4,500. Where does the rest go?
I think we should start having people vote for the mods near the bottom of the top 10, try to knock PoE 2 out of it.

Heh, you know that by saying that you've just given cause to everyone who finds a bug to mutter "Bet this wouldn't be such a problem if they hadn't rushed the release to get 0.6 into the Gameflood competition..."
Bet it's only 48 hours before someone posts something to that effect lol.
Request permission to strap them to Big Red on Al Basrah and blow them sky-high if they do so?
