PR v0.6 soft launch via torrent

***** If you are a news site PLEASE do not make this announcement, this is a "soft launch" of PR v0.6 via .torrent only. Official launch will come tomorrow *****

The PR v0.6 server code is being distributed to server admins who have applied for and been granted a license. Some v0.6 servers should start appearing over the next few hours. We have asked that Server Admins include "v0.6" in their server name somewhere.

The client code is now available via .torrent (you need a torrent client such as Azureus or uTorrent):

If you don't know how to use a torrent wait until tomorrow when more direct links are available.

If you download v0.6 MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTING TO A SERVER WITH v0.6 IN THE NAME.

The client will crash if you connect to a v0.5 server with a v0.6 client.

After every release there is some hiccups and confusion until people upgrade their servers. But this thread had gotten out of hand with people reporting their % complete progress every 20 minutes and bitching about their download speeds every 10 minutes.

Torrents are free and so is the mod. Have a lil patience and make sure you are connecting to a v0.6 server.

We release this via torrent quietly to our gaming community so y'all can have a chance to get it downloaded before a broad release. Don't spam the forums with senseless questions and complaints please.

Well i hope i can say thank you, sweet release time... i'm an early riser here in the UK. And i have little competion for bandwith.

I've been looking forward to re-uniting the community across 0.5 and 0.6... i think it will be interesting.

Ok, my game is still crashing even when I try to join a .6 server. YES, I'm only trying the ones with .6 in there name.

I tried 3 different .6 servers all do it as soon as the server starts its loading process.

I'm gonna reinstall and see what happens.

Ok, so yeah, I forgot about this one thing that happened during my install (and happened again just now when reinstalling it) I get an error at the very end of the install, one bar away from finishing, saying it cant copy a file in the mods folder of the BF2 directory, called client.zip because its corrupt. It gives me option to retry, which it then goes back to about 3/4 of the way done and goes from there, which it gives me message avian, or to abort, or ignore. If I click ignore the install finishes and I can start up .6 but when I try to join a server, it crashes.

The clan bridge direct link at the top here. Second file today that is corrupt. First was that second direct link he has up there, that I tried earlier today when someone else posted it.

First time I ever had a problem with a PR download/install damnit.

I'm guessing that direct download was corrupted when it was downloaded originally by Torrent, then uploaded before it was checked.

Here, before you decide your file is corrupt, go download an MD5 Hash tool (search google) and compare to the hash in the first post. If they are different then yes, your file is corrupt.

My 0.6 download is fine, altough I havent played on multiplayers servers yet, just ran LAN to see...

Maybe put this in a new thread, but a lot of maps are still missing the map loading screen (lil pic with flags on *hint**hint*) and Street and Raid on Moskyie are also listed uner Conquest/AAS. I thought, they were extraction only maps?

I just got .5 last night - I was going "D: There's NO WAY."

!!!

I used modjive prior to uninstall .5... and I just installed so I don't know anything else other than that my install worked.

Think, 0.6 isnt on Modjive yet..

btw, I was the same case, I got 0.4, visited the site after installing and see a "0.5 is out!"

My reports where in this thread..UK Link is corrupted.Torrent works!

idnt work, crash, in Server Browser i see red and white servers, although i filtered out same version/mod.

Red where 0.5 running.

I take the white one with sunset city.map loaded. back to desktop-.

Some of you need to read!

Any red servers you see will be ONLY because those maps are no longer included in PR v0.6.

If you are experiencing a CTD you are more than likely connecting to a v0.5 server.

The direct UK download works fine for me.
