"Bravo Two Zero" Escape to Syria

Post by henno13 »

hey all
i was reading a book named "The One Who Got Away" by Chris Ryan who is an ex SAS member and he wrote on his experinces in the gulf war

nearing the end of his escpae, he encountered an Anti Aircraft and SCUD positions at Al Qiam, about 10Km from the Syrian border

we could make an XTRACT map to recreate this except there is a MAJOR im- balance:
1. the Iraqis (or MEC) guarding the AA position, would have much greater numbers, lets say around 24-8

2. there would be only TWO classes for the Brits: 4 people should have 203s
(M16/203) and the other 4 have Mimimis.(you could re-model) the mimimi to make it look alot less that the M249

3.basicily the ONLY cover is wadis (or riverbeds) up until the the bunkers in the front of the position.

now
the Brits mission is to escape to the other side unseen,
or wipe the position from the face of the earth
and then escape into Syria

The teams are hardcoded to be equal in numbers, sorry.

Yep, teams are hardcoded so you'll never have like 24-8 teams.

And the team bit would require a new Bravo 2 Zero faction to be made, and even if you did make one, I'm not sure if you could have 2 class teams.

So I'd say that this is impossible.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the Minimi is in the works (for the Brits, obviously). The M249 SAW is just a placeholder for now.

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

Plus the fact is that in real life the Iraqis were unaware of this operation, if you do this in game you can just rape 'em apart..

(sorry for the off-topic)
Of course, no vehicles at all for Mr Ryan, as he didn't want to take one with him despite advice to the contrary.

Lets face it currently, IRL is this type of scenario appropriate to PR? I'm sure there are lots of extract scenarios that do work well. How safe would Syria be for british special forces? :P

How about Insurgent Leader extract scenario to similar location?

this mission is more suited to somthing like armed assualt or opertation flashpoint, where you could have masses of AI stand in for the opfor
