The fileplanet download is the wrong one overall. While its named the same as the others, it actually installs version .40.

I downloaded it from 'gamershell', and then used the 'Europe Seriously Internet' download link, (Line: 1000Mbit/s) it came down at full speed all the way.

Use a program like download accelerator plus (DAP) to get it.
You can get a free version from their site.

Setup your server browser so that the ONLY boxes you have checked are:

* SAME VERSION ONLY
* SAME MOD
* PUNKBUSTER (recommended)
* 16, 32, 64 MAP SIZES (recommended)

V.506 is the same as v.509.

The difference is a server patch, so you should be able to play it.

hi i have project reality 0.5 installed on my comp just wondering seeing how 0.6 is released do i need to download the full 1.9 gigs as i already have 0.5 installed?

Yes.
You may want to use the torrent so you can pause the download.
