I'm guessing the reason would be that they are not ready yet.

so the devs should have taken the 6 version to about 1 or 2 months more to make mortars no need to rush

The only time they were "in" the beta was as a name on the kit request menu. This was removed quickly and it has been posted that they are trying to introduce the mortars in 0.7.

The fact that you told them to "plz make sure you have them in 0.7" now garuntees that we will infact see them in 0.7. Please be sure to tell the Devs to make sure they get teh fAst ropes done in time for 0.7 as well, while your at it

No. This way, we already get some of the improvements, the mortars can wait.

Worst idea ever. 0.6 was already way behind schedule. A huge majority of people would far prefer to have 0.6 out now rather than delay it longer and wait until 0.7 or later for mortars.

POE got the motors to work as well as that Vietnam mod so its possible just in case anyone was wondering. Is it at all possible to maybe ask those POE guys how they did it?? IF you go to their website you will see the training video for the motors, its pretty cool.

Unless you want to tell them how to make fast roping, vehicles on vehicles without exploding ( that sounds mildy dirty ) and airlifting small vehicles with helicopters. In which case ...

Of course we want to do a "PRification" of mortars hehe. If my idea works, they will actually require some teamwork and skill to use. And will *never* be usable as a direct fire weapon.

Additionally we don't really want to have a single guy able to pack around a 3 man crew weapon and fire it with impunity, so there are deisgn considerations there we need to evaluate that are outside of how the actual weapon itself works.

Mmm ... mortars. It'd sure be cool to see it set like a rally point maybe? You pick a mortar kit and then need say ... 2 team mates beside you to deploy it? I bet that same sort of thing would work great with a .50 cal too. ( Yeah yeah, I know .. already suggested many times and this isn't the suggestion area ) :-P

What Eggman is refering to, and I hate to let the cat out of the bag, is that sustained mortar fire will require several squad mates to pee on the mortar tubes. Just like in "Wee were soldiers" when the mortar tubes overheat. Basically like the SAW has an overheat function so will the mortars ;-) Sorry to spoil it for everyone.

Wasn't it in BF:Vietnam that you could lift vehicles with helicopters? Been ages since I played it so. Would be a cool feature in PR

Back on topic.
I look forward to your idea eggman. I have confidence it will work out nicely.

Fast roping is possible. It's just that the Devs haven't tried certain methods. I know this because I turned as much of the Battlefield 2 files inside out with a friend of mine and messed with as much as I could making a private mod. A lot of it isn't as hard coded as the Devs think. It is true :!:

proof or it didn't happen....seriously
