[Question] making a custom map size (how do I increase length, but decrease width?)

Post by w.WAREHOUSE »

I wanted to designed a custom map for PRM .609 that is rectangular, and larger than the default 1024 value that my editor offers, but also narrow.

I see 2 options in terrain editor: SIZE & SCALE.
(I'm guessing that scale multiplies the map size in all directions)

How can I change my map to be much longer x2048, but also skinny x512 ?

I did a search and came up empty on this topic.

Hopefully an easy question, thanks!

here's the options when terrain editor starts up:

what is the difference between a map size 512 x scale 4 = 2048m
and a map size 1024 x scale 2 = 2048m

You cannot make it narrow.

Sounds like your a nooby...

Make a regular sized map first (512x512:2) Then once you are better try a bigger map, 2048 is kinda breaking stuff so don't try it for your first.

The only way you can make a map narrow would be to use combat zones.

EJOD, dragon valley, fushe pass are all done by combat zones. Its not possible with the BF2 engine and DXT9 to make a size of map that is not a power of 2.
