If every patch made by EA breaks up mod compatibility like this, it's going to be hell for mods (like if BF engine wasn't already).

Too bad we can't have it as easy as we did with Unreal Tournament...
It is truly amazing what you can do with that engine!
Oh well... Back to the drawing board.... again!

Firstly, why the hell did you guys install a patch that does nothing for BF2 (just SF)?. Plus you never know if an update will conflict with a mod, so you wait and see if it's ok or not.
All you guys have to do is uninstall and reinstall everything. Sure it's a pain in that arse, but it really doesn't take that long if you still have all the necessary patch/install .exe's on your computer.

I haven't checked today, but yesterday there were only 2 PRMM servers. I guess all the PRMM servers are being updated with the new patch? As long as there are 1-2 PRMM servers, everything is fine, but if we loose those, something needs to be done pronto.

Its an online game, patching (no matter how much it add) is standard practise. Cant really blaim us for installing it.

I hope PRMM get updated soon, with a bunch of fixes too, heh.

But your playing a MOD. If your just playing Vanilla BF2, why not update, but for a mod, you don't know if it will be compatible. And why not just reinstall?

Well, you have a good reason to update. The other guys said they updated for no real reason.

Indeed it is more complicated. You could mod BF42 and Nam quite easily compared to this thing. This one crashes or requires some manual work to get everything ticking over... if you're lucky.

One word of advice... When a new patch is out, make a copy of your BF2 program directory, and name it along with the version. Then patch the original folder. Keep two separate shortcuts. One linking to the EXE for the patched version, and one linking to the older version. This will allow you to play the version of your choice without a problem.

Of course, it can get pretty space-hungry if you have a small hard drive, but nowadays most PC's have large hard drives, more than enough to have room for all your regular data and two BF2 folders.

BluDragon wrote:i have to agree with RG, he and a very few others are left playing PRMM with us. btw this is the link i use to check servers b4 i even boot up bf2...er PRMM.. http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php? ... al=prmm_02 .. as you can see, we are down to 5 servers, with Crack Smoking Monkeys, Gloryhoundz, and DCBB being the only ones ive seen played in b4 i imagine it wont be long b4 the other 2 are gone.

Btw those who played BF1942 went thru the same things with Desert Combat and regular patches, but they was much quicker to come out with a very small "here this makes it compatible" type of patch. Im not knocking Devs or Mod makers, i imagine this engine is much more complicated to work with than the BF1942 or the BF:V engines are.

I am very much jonesing for my PRMM fix and its always left up to about less than 10 ppl on only one populated server.

I hope everyone comes to their senses and re-installs everything and chalks this up as a lesson learned, ive done it before. see yall on the field
Yea, I have that link already bookmarked, lol. The thing is It shows like 6 servers, but when looking at the in-game browser, there are only 2 PRMM servers.

The last two nights have been dead. Both were about 6 people (3 on 3).
Guys, reinstall and join in. We need more players.

Actually its 100x easier now, when we dont have to program our own file extracter, our own 3D exporter and our own map editor.

Already got an editor and all files are in common zip. So no, its not more complicated to work with.

Besides, PRMM need a revival anyway.

Well I am already having a problem with the editor since this patch. No matter what custom map i try to load bf2 crashes at the join game screen. It is even crashing on maps that I know are good or at least were good enough for the game prior to the patch. I am also disapointed that the new models(buildings) and such arent available to put in our new maps. There is quite a bit of themed buildings that would fit my maps almost perfectly.

Was checking last night. There are plenty servers. Most running 1.03, a few running 1.12, but they all got something in common. No-one is playing on them. The most I saw was 2 people on a 1.12 server and as I'm running 1.03 I was sitting alone at some fool server.

So, as the topic says, fix your own installation so that we can play the PRMM that's already there. What's up with all the thirst for newer better things? Use what we already have.

.01 had just a bit too many flaws but .02 plays just fine, if there only would be some people on the servers.

What happened to the weekly games? If everyone know a time when people are playing more people will show up since no-one like sitting alone at a server.

@TheForgottenSalad: Nice advice

@dawdler: PRMM is doing ok, what needs a revival is the players, and EA/DICE.

In case it was missed in other threads.... we are working on a small patch to resolve issues caused by 1.12.
