Ingame, the L86A2 has less recoil and further reach. Just like reality! (because of bipod and longer barrel)

Considering the maximum range of an enemy weapon such as AK47 or AK74 or AK101 the distance the L86A2 can reach is phenominal and is therefore classed as a useful marksman weapon.

Carbines = 100m

Rifles = 300m

Sniper/Marksman Rifles = 600m
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Thanks bob :D

Snipers should be zeroed at 800m ideally 1000m to stop idiots who use the sniper as a urban cqc weapon.

Their is NOTHING wrong with the L86A2 if you don't like it DEAL WITH IT, No it doesnt have 6x zoom but it has a wider field of view than the M14 and has Auto so please stop bitching if you don't like it don't use it.

but dooooooooooood !
I, like, need my sniper rifle, ya know
cuz, like, i'm different from those other b00ns and I know how to be a GREAT sniper and, like, I need a better scope.

I am fated to die quickly if I pick up a sniper rifle so I almost never carry one.

I don't think changing the zero'd in range to 800m + will change anything. The rifles don't have real ballistic paths i.e. arcs. So the bullet drop is linear, the bullet flies straight out to it's zero'd in range and then starts to drop. So moving that range out just means you have to deal with bullet drop even less, nothing changes up close. :D

Does the A2 use the same scope as the SA-80 in real life too? Seems a little odd but I'd assume it does otherwise you would of modeled it otherwise.

As ever Bob will be the one to swoop in with the reasonable or not so reasonable answer to why this is (in real life terms).

yes the A1 and the A2 both use the SUSAT sight.

but on anther note what gets me is yous are all talking about having to aim a little above to compensate for bullet drop but in real life a soldier wouldnt do that since on the SUSAT and AGOG there is bullet drop compensaters already on them. yes we zero them at 300 but at the turn of a cog/barrel (what ever you want to call it) it is then zeroed at 400 then 500, 600 is were it stops for the L85A2 but the LSW goes to 800 so the only thing you need to compensate for is the wind. i cant tell you how the AGOG works because i have never used it but talking to some of the lads from 23 squadron who use the AGOG they say its alot easyer than the SUSAT

but obv this being a game you cant do that.

Well unfortunately, bullet travel path in BF2 is linear and cannot be changed :-(

So your technically zeroed all the way up to 100/300/600 before you have to compensate for the drop. In real life your bullet would be hitting above where you aim before the zero point but like I said, can't do it with BF2. At least now rifles can engage at realistic ranges. Previously (vBF2) all weapons were set to what the carbines are set to now :-P (they hit low at distances higher than 100m)
