Pay for Reality?

Post by Serox »

Hi. First of all: Project Reality is the best Battlefield 2 mod ever!
I was just wandering if you will have to pay for the "final version" of Project Reality. I could really understand that because you guys are really doing great work which is surely not easy (im sure EA would take like 30$ for the mod if it would be theirs^^)
But i also think that it would be pity if it would cost too much.

EA rules state that you cannot sell mods of their games unless you have their permission. They must be free.

However, if PR made it's own engine or got another engine than maybe they could circumvent that.

Ah. So the guys of PR would have to make a "new" game if they wanted to sell it?

Yea, you can't sell a mod of a game you didn't create without permission.

The only way PR could be sold is if EA acquired the PR Team, which will never happen for a myriad of reasons.

I would pay for a Project Reality game and be happy. Pay for a game as BF2 would be a wast of money.

I would gladly pay for the final version of PR.
I liked BF2 until I found PR and really it is a fun game but just not as much fun as PR in any version.

I hate it how everyone shows nothing but hate for vBF2. vBF2 was the shit!! You guys cant even lie like you didnt like it and played it all the time. Plus without vBF2 we wouldnt have PR(which is better :-) ) I have a soft spot for vBF2

PRM is great, but I would only buy it if it got rid of all the bugs

honestly, this game has at least 4 times as many bugs as BF2

After lovingly playing BF1942/DC for years, vBF2 totally broke my heart I haven't played that hyped up "God-kid commander" **** since Oct 2005.

Project Reality saved my BF2 disk and is the only game/mod I play now. I'd be honored to pay for PR or buy merchandise to help support future development in what I believe will go down in gaming history as the most famous and ambitious mod ever.

I just cannot believe you said this... what bugs bother you so much then?

The way you said it, is like PR is covered with/in bugs, which is not, really. And please think about the fact that devs are continuously working on the mod, which includes bug-fixing.

I would gladly pay for it. Dude, I'd smile whilst buying PR!

From what we know of online gaming, espically multplayer fps games. Once a game goes retail, it usually goes to shit.

well, if they got rid of all the bugs, made better graphics, and got more people to play it, then yeah, i'd be willing to pay for PRM if it weren't a mod

the game stutters WAY more on my machine than vanilla BF2. the game crashes much more often than BF2. there are subtle graphical flaws.

PRM is great and all, but the fact that it is free is a deciding factor. honestly, in the state that it is in now, I'd never dream of buying it
