If it is a good thing or not...
Congrats to Dev team!
EA has noted your hard work!
...
Now they will hire you all and we can wait for a few years for a BF3 and there will be no one to release new versions of PR.
Oh no!

Ok, what is wrong with you people for bashing EA?!?!? You all complain that they do nothing for the mods, but when they do you bash them! You complain that the mod scene isn't as robust as BF1942 or BFV, but when you get great advertising that could bring in new players, you complain!
I don't like EA as much as the next person, but when they do or try to do something good, you have to give them credit! Be thankful that they did what they did and when it brings in the "noobs" (you were all one) take a second to teach them how to play PR "properly" and help the community gain another mod player!

Erik and Drayu: Well said.
On topic:
This can only bring in more players, and more players is a Good Thing. The mod is now robust enough to force players into playing in a certain way; it's now very difficult to play a game without cooperation with your teammates.
New players will adapt their play style or stop playing, it just takes time. With encouragement, it *will* pass. So help people!

well now that you mentioned it, I did. Probably the reason for that is that back in the days of 0.2 (or something like that) things weren't that different than what they are now.EyesOnly wrote:The first you played you didnt have a clue what was going on.
And I'm not elitist, when I use the word smacktard I don't talk about people new to the game. Most of them are new to the game, but not all newbies are idiots. Some communicate, some might even listen to what the commander/SL tells them to do, hell some might even read the guide. Even though they are not that good they will learn how to play the game, and they will become good players.
The ones that worry me are the people who don't do that, but instead play pr because it looks cool or something else like that.

Well it's nice to see PR on public display at EA's BF2 site. (Wonder how long until it's replaced by POE's new release)
I don't think EA is in any way interested in making a "realistic" version of BF2 and I sense no dedication from their side to help out people who want to mod their game. So I think the best is not to hope for too much to come out of all this...
