Teamkills
I've noticed so much friendly fire going on these days, no matter if it's a point hungry sniper or and APC with uber zoom, tank friendly fire or w/e I always end up getting teamkilled atleast thrice in a round.
Back in the beta days I would lose my tank to a friendly tank every time I was on Kashan Desert. Or maybe a scared rabbit will teamkill me with his "uber1337m4w00tw00t" because someone fired a few rounds after him.
C4 friendly fire.
Trying to help out the mechanised, then they chose to blow me to bits for some odd reason.
Or just someone teamkilling for the heck of it.
I could make an even longer list but I canny be arsed doing it after a tough morning of avoiding friendly fire.
So is this just happening to me? Or do you guys experience something similar?

Friendly fire always increases after a new release as theres an influx of new players with itchy trigger fingers not yet accustomed to the mod. It usually "dulls" down after a few weeks as people get better or leave the mod.
Unfortunatly you just have to put up with it. If its accidental, forgive 'em, if their just fools, punish 'em.

I don't know about an "insta-slay" but increased spawn time sounds good.
Yes accidents will happen but they happen less when you are careful and deliberate and a 10 attrition penalty for each TK would certainly lead to more care.
I mean that the 10 sec penalty lasts all game so killing a full BH " by accident" would give you 110sec spawn.

Accidents happen. New players will tend to TK more than others, because they're not used to IDing targets visually, and have itchy trigger fingers. Tell them to be more careful next time. Punish should be used for smacktards who TK purposefully.
Also, insta-slay is a terribly bad idea. Say 3 people are capturing a flag, and for some reason one of them TKs another. Blam, you're down to one person on the flag because the one who got TKed is punish-happy.

What impressed me the most when I first came to this mod over a year ago was the generosity of the PR community to forgive accidental TKs. IMO most team-based new players feel shame and humility when they TK. Punishing by default without considering the mindset of the TKer is contagious and will only lead to a more disgruntled player base.
Also, I agree no insta-slay and a longer spawn time would indeed be a more constructive punishment.

I was playing Kashan 32 player version, and I was gunner in a cobra. We were communicating and owning enemy armour. The round was short and I joined after the game had started but I ended up with 14 kills and 2 deaths. Those 2 deaths? Teamkills. Who can´t tell the difference between a cobra and whatever the enemy chopper is?
It was one of the weirdest games of my life, god knows what everyone was up to.
Although I did make one big mistake after having been teamkilled the first time. I saw movement ahead. Possible enemy apc? Checked the map, nothing there, must be an enemy vehicle, I fired a TV missile and ended up taking out our full commander truck, commander included.
Stupid thing wasn´t on the map.
Anyway, I will forgive almost every teamkill, unless it is for my kit or just an obvious teamkill.

I'm glad to have not been team killed by any new players yet. So far all my team kill deaths have come from veteren players whose reflexes took over when they turned a corner.
I almost got killed by a new player in a tank on EJOD. He was one of those one-man-tankers (of course) trying to cover the infantry approach to the gas station. This was pretty far in the round and we got pushed back to our last flag as USMC. As I was moving, I tried to be a little random in the small hills as I could so I could ambush enemy tanks with my H-AT kit. As I passed into view clearly in front of him, he starts shooting his coax at me! I thought for sure he was going to shoot a HEAT round at me until I brandished my anti-tank weapon at him. Didn't have to shoot one at him because he stopped shooting me.
Saved my life from a team kill and from having to teach him a lesson.

Speaking of friendly fire and teamkills, you should have seen my gunner the other day... he was killing friendlies left and right; I'm very surprised he wasn't kicked. He'd say, "Stop, I see an enemy" and would end up killing a teammate... then solodude23, who was manning the .50 cal, got out and clearly explained where he was going to be (our tank's 4 o'clock, searching for an enemy 5m away). What a surprise, the gunner killed solodude23!

i have tked some peeps :S, but it was on kashan, and sometimes they dont appear on ur map, so i was like infantry way way over there, shoot of a heat, 3 tk's :/ ooops,
i have done 1 tk on purpose though, albasrah, picked up an svd as insurgents, go up ladder start snipin the GB infantry, some1 new joins squad, then starts askin all the nubish questions, 'where do i get kits,? wheres my cross hair? wats shovel for, they should add fastropin...blah blah blah..? then he joins me on the roof stands up, and starts bunny hoppin tryin to shoot as close as possible to my head and i kept tellin him to stop and buger off back to vanilla, where he belongs, then he killed 2 of the other guys with me, so i jsut stood up noscoped him in the head and watched his body fall to the ground, then he got kicked from server

advice for new players in PR: if you have been playing "vanilla" bf2, you see friendly soldiers with nametags over their heads and on the minimap as blue dots. Enemy soldiers with red nametags,
in PR, you only see friendly nametags when friendly soldiers are within 50 meters range. and enemy soldiers - no nametags.
So.. the best thing to not TK, is to check out what kind of uniforms each character has. slightly diffrent colors on the uniforms. as far as i renember (correct me if im wrong), USMC troops have brownish, chinese - green. english troops - dont renember. and insurgents.. well. hehe.
my point is - dont wait for nametags to show up. does it IRL? ;p
Also check what kind of weapons friendly and enemy soldiers are using. faces etc..
some other advice: join a squad. other people may tell where enemies are located. and be very careful with your trigger finger.
Good luck in the battlefield soldier!

yeah man, its hell for me. they look the exact same sometimes. you gotta check the skin color. if you are american and the guy you are aiming at is tan, fire at will. if you are mec, look for black and white. haha this is seriously how i tell. im colorblind, so i try not to go with color but value instead.Epim3theus wrote:Is it just me (my computer) or did the USMC get darker uniforms then before, lately when playing as MEC i really have to look twice to see who's who.
thank god the british and americans are allies
