A few ideas from a PR fan
Ok so here are my ideas:
1. Voices for team mates baised on class: Ok I don't know if this can be done, but it can it would realy make the overall realism of the mod stand out from other mods for BF2.
Say I spawn as an AT riflemen. This guy is clearly African American right? so why dose his voice commands sound clearly like he is a white guy? I mean we all know the Commander sounds way different than the rest of the team. Mabe we can change the voice of the AT riflemen to be that of what he looks like. It would realy add to the game to hear for the USMC both nationalities over the raido. Plus it would make me feel way more comfortable knowing it's realy not an all white USMC like it currently sounds. Agian I'm not sure this can be done but even so it would help the game feel more close to real life than ever before. I mean in BFV when you heard a black guy talking you could tell he was of African disent because his taunts sounded that way.
2. In game effects: IE missile trails, and vehicle explosions. I know this may seem kinda dumb but I would love to see the trails from both aircraft missiles, and AT weapons to be less stright and more wiggly. Any one who has seen the new COD4 game would know what I mean. Those RPG trails are just so cool to look at. Currently our missile trails are vary stright and fake looking I mean even DC final had some killer missile trails.
Next of course would be vehicle explosions. I mean these are the most lack luster things in BF2. I know it may be alot of work but would it be possable to make them more detailed? I mean there should be sparks, and flame shooting out from that tank or jeep when it blows up. it also should have more than pice of hulk when it's finaly gone. IE it would rock to see a jeep have four pices after it dies, and tanks that can lose their turrets, and APCs that split in half. Also can we make them not black? I mean it's kind of a fact that if a vehicle blows up it dose not look all chared and black. This was somthing that was realy cool in DC that the vehicles may be dead but they clearly look like they have been hit hard and not turned into little black pices of char cole.
3. Weapons: I would like to see the fallowing weapons come back from BF2 to PR:
AK-74U: With an updated look and new sounds to it.
RPK-74
AK-101
M-24
MP-5: With an updated skin and more realistic looking model.
SCAR-11L
SCAR-11H
MP-7
I would also like to see the fallowing weapons be added some time down the road:
SMGs:
OTs-02 Kiparis
MP5K
UMP
UZI
Sniper rilfes:
M99B anti-materiel rifle: This is the PLAs latest 50.cal sniper rifle
PSG-1: How about this for a MEC markmen instead of the SVD sniper rifle?
SR-25: my favoret Sniper rifle the US uses right now. It just looks sweet. I would love to have it in PR!
OSV-96: Here is a good Russian 12.7mm sniper rifle that can be used by Insurgents. It's an older model as well.
MGs:
MK.48: another good LMG for the US some time down the road.
M240G
Type-88: this is a good GPMG from the PLA it's cool and is in BF2:MC.
RPD: this would be a good old style LMG for the Miltia as they tend to have older weapons.
4. Pistols: How about squad leaders get special pistols that only thier kits can have? It would make the game alot more interesting to have some more pistol types as BF2 is realy lacking in this part of the weapons department:
USMC:
Desert Eagle: With the cool and stylish silver look please!
Insurgents:
Glock 15: Agian with a look thats not black.
MEC:
HK USP: well they use German Assault rifles why not give their Squad leader a German pistol?
PLA:
Model 77B: This is a more powerfull PLA Pistol that shoots 9x19mm instead of the PLA 7.62x17mm of other PLA pistols.

AK-101 - Request the officer kit from a spawn car if you're an insurgent squad leader and you'll get this weapon with the grenade launcher.
MP-7 - Already in game on the extraction maps but they're bugged in 0.6 so they're AAS for now.
UZI - There are dual uzi's on Kashan Desert, heh.

I know it's a little out there but the MEC and Miltia especaly are fake and made up just for the mod. Why not add some sepecial perks to make people wan't to play as them more? BTW on the SL Pistol thing:
If you know anything about history there are several US army Sargents who have a special pistol they hand down to the guy who will replace him when they retire and most of them are weapons like a revolvor or a colt 45. It's common in many militaries to have these kind of traditions and it would be vary common in a Insrugent, or Milita faction that not everybody would have the same pistol. IE they would get what ever they can buy, or afford. So whats wrong with haveing a little fun with the kit load out it can still be a PR mod just a more varried and fun one.
I'm not saying we should make it BF2 on stims, but I'm saying hay why not do something that makes the us stand out from other mods.

That is more than a little racist.
Black people don't automatically sound any different than anyone else.
I think you are a little too influenced by modern media and think that all black people have some ghetto-psuedo southern accent.
The military tends to blur accents until everyone sounds vaguely southern/midwestern.
Since we are on the subject, where are the Latino Marines ?
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

...ummm, I have to agree with ADaA here. I mean, have you guys ever heard Colin Powell or Condelezza Rice talk (I mention them because they're famous and everyone probably has, not because they're exceptions)?
Plus, as an American, I think the American voices are on the spot anyway, and I wouldn't want to risk messing them up.
That, and I'm pretty sure that's impossible to do. AFAIK, voice is determined by rank (Squad Member/Squad Leader/Commander). Appearance is determined by the armor you spawn in (or lack of armor, that's why there are only two skins for each team). Plus, you can pick up someone else's kit, so that might complicate things.
As for the rest of your suggestions...I don't know, I don't feel strongly eitherway.

which armies would get these, the G3 is here to stay on the MEC. and its alot of work to remodel and re-skin these when they have been replaced by better weaponsGunwing wrote:

AK101
is a US Army rifle and the US army is not yeat in gameGunwing wrote: M-24
what class would get this front line troops are no longer armed with SMG's and tankcrews and pilots are either armed with Carbines or those new PDW's such as the p90 or MP7Gunwing wrote: MP-5
marines armed with a SOCOM weapon?Gunwing wrote: SCAR-11L
SCAR-11H
its in game on extract maps, and theres render of it in the media section IIRCGunwing wrote: MP-7
as posted above SMG's are not used by frontline troops, and been mostly replaced by carbines and PDW's else where.Gunwing wrote: OTs-02 Kiparis
MP5K
UMP
UZI
is a law enforcement rifle, not a military rifle here gives a few good reasons why it souldnt be a MEC rifle Snipercentral.comGunwing wrote: PSG-1
its not in widespread use, seems to me as more of a Special forces weapon along with the SR-25.Gunwing wrote: MK.48
is the same as the britsh GMPG, check the media section for more info about itGunwing wrote: M240G
i think it should return as a LMG for the insurgents, but as a militia weapon no.Gunwing wrote: RPD
pistols as back up weapons are not really needed, and people choosing a SL kit just to get a unigue weapon would hurt game play.Gunwing wrote: Pistols: How about squad leaders get special pistols that only thier kits can have? not in service any ware and not likely to be , especially in shiny chrome to large and heavy to be of any practical use as a backup weapon, its a pure Hollywood weapon.Gunwing wrote: Desert Eagle

as a ingurgent weapon? do they have these in widespread use? sounds like the CS terrorists have made their way to Al Basrah, lets hope the civilans are not replaced by L337 cr3w operatives.
Gunwing wrote: HK USP
not all their weapons are strictly German, as most are made by license in middle eastern countries. A wide range of countries use this as a service pistol so the MEC could use it, but i bet Bob Marley could pick a better pistol for use.
it seems to me alot of your weapon choices have be flavored by a certain half life mod, which is a shame as theres a good weapon selection in there, but because they are cool or popular weapons in other mods should not be a reason for them to be in a realism mod.

i just scrolled back up thats one long post.
PS
its having accents that important to you? as Britain has a huge range of accents along with other countries, you just cant add them into one side its just not fair . and even if it was possible its a monumental task adding new voices, let alone 2-3 to each side to get a fair sample of voices ingame

i dont believe he is talking about dialect, he is talking about tone. but i mean, do black people sound different from white people in terms of tone? i dont think they do, but that would be a little less inflammatory that suggesting the dialect should be changed to ebonics. suggesting that the black dude should say "can we get some motha f*ckin supplies up in this b*tch!? SH*T!" would be pretty absurd.ArmedDrunk&Angry wrote:That is more than a little racist.
